If you've been wondering how to implement AI in a way that works for your small business, this is where to figure it out.

We're hosting a 60 minute working session on June 23 at 10 AM MST with Mark Perez of Ticomix. We'll cover real examples of how teams are using Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude. We'll also talk about the very real security risks of allowing the use of personal AI accounts in the work place.

"Is this the current version?" It sounds like a small question. On a job site, it rarely is.

When files live in too many places, in too many inboxes, on too many desktops, the wrong version has a way of making it to the field. And the cost of that mistake almost always lands on the contractor.

Our latest article looks at how file sharing failures quietly drain time and money from construction and trade businesses, and what a better setup actually looks like.

Somewhere on a jobsite right now, someone is building from a plan set that was superseded two days ago. The updated version exists. It was emailed to someone, uploaded to a folder, maybe mentioned in a meeting. But the crew in the field never saw it. And the rework that follows will cost more than [...

A big thank you to Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity for the kind words.

If your IT provider only shows up when something breaks, you don't have an IT partner. You've got an emergency contact.

Plenty of small and mid-sized businesses have relied on a "computer guy" or a small shop for years. It feels simple. It feels cost-effective. But between those service calls, no one's monitoring systems, applying patches, testing backups, or planning for what comes next. That gap is where real risk lives.

Our latest article breaks down the difference between reactive break-fix support and proactive managed IT, and why the businesses that invest in the latter spend far less time in crisis mode.

There's a version of IT support that most small businesses know well: you call someone when something stops working, they fix it, they send a bill, and you don't hear from them again until the next thing breaks. Which was fine when technology was simpler. But in today’s fast moving business enviro...

AI is everywhere in the headlines. But for most small and mid-sized businesses, the question isn't "should we use AI?" It's "what does AI actually do for us day to day?"

The honest answer: on its own, not much. Small business owners should be looking at AI in terms of practical applications. Automation tools instead of the sort of Virtual Assistant you see in the movies.

AI becomes valuable when it's built into the systems your team already relies on, monitored by people who understand your environment, and tuned to solve real problems. That's where a managed service provider changes the conversation.

Here's what practical, MSP-managed AI looks like:

• Automated threat detection that flags unusual activity across your network before it becomes a breach
• Smarter ticket routing and response, so issues reach the right technician faster
• Patch and update automation that keeps systems current without disrupting your team
• Backup monitoring that verifies recovery points are actually usable, not just running
• Endpoint behavior analysis that catches ransomware patterns earlier than traditional tools

That's what AI looks like when it's applied with sound judgment and backed by a team that knows when to step in.

At Connecting Point, we're focused on the practical side of AI. The kind that quietly protects your business, saves your team time, and lets you focus on the work that actually moves your company forward.

Want to see what this could look like in your environment? Head to our website and complete a IT Discovery Request. The team will review your needs and outline practical next steps.

Most small businesses aren't losing ground to sophisticated cyberattacks. They're losing ground to the same preventable gaps that show up over and over in breach investigations, including weak authentication, unpatched systems, and security tools that were never fully deployed after purchase.

New research from SonicWall puts a number on it. High-severity attacks on SMBs are up more than 20% year over year, and 88% of SMB breaches in 2025 involved ransomware.

The gap between a protected business and an exposed one rarely comes down to technology. It comes down to ex*****on, and helping Northern Colorado businesses close that gap is exactly what we do at Connecting Point.

Throwback Thursday to the early days. ❤️

That's our CEO Scott, our CFO Andy, and their dad Ted, the man who started it all, somewhere in the Colorado mountains back in the early 90s. Two kids who had no idea they'd one day be running the company their dad was busy building.

44 years in and still family owned. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Here's something worth thinking about this week. 💡

Somewhere in your organization, someone is using a tool you've never heard of to get their work done faster. They mean well. But if client data is involved, that tool could be creating a security and compliance gap your business doesn't know exists.

Shadow IT has always been a challenge, but the explosion of AI tools in the last two years has made it significantly harder to manage.

We broke down the risk and what a practical response looks like on our blog. ➡️ https://heyor.ca/T8hcy6
