Part 2: put two slabs of tape on the bottom once you center the display (i am extremely picky on this… it has to be perfectly centered). Once you year the adhesive strips you should assume you are finished with the repair. Because it becomes extremely difficult to take off and reseparate. After that, install an operating system and you’re good to go.

Upgrading a 27” iMac to an SSD. The 1TB hard drive was replaced with a 500gb solid state drive to make it sprint… SSD’s are incredibly quick. The read and write speed alone is like a Lamborghini compared to a Honda Civic. SSD VS HARD DRIVE!

We use what is called a “bridge” or adapter so the SSD fits the original size of a hard drive as you can see in the photos. This is only needed on 27” models as the 21” models have a smaller hard drive which is the same size as the solid states that are used today.

This poor guys screen is literally about to fall off because of some shop he took it to at the mall. It should seal almost perfectly. The only gap you should be able to see should maybe fit a single piece of printer paper. I could fit a quarter into this thing. Be careful who you take it to!!

Wonderful repair on this 27” 2012 unit. The bottom neck was SEVERELY bent out of shape (i didn’t take photos of the before and after) but it looks almost perfect now. Quick OS install and that fixes the recovery loop and folder with the question mark. Passes all diagnostics and it’s ready for the owner.

I’m not perfect but i feel so damn good knowing that i can help someone with something they’ve taken to 2 or 3 other repair shops and i can do it in a matter of one or two hours. It’s not easy but i love it. Especially knowing you did a good job and made them happy : )

This repair took about 1 hour of extensive labor. Turns out the part we ordered (which can happen) was bad so after a day or two later, we finally had this thunderbolt display back up and running which resulted in yet another 5 star happy client.
