Join the Hive. 🐝

We’re building something at HiveWatch, and we’re looking for curious people who want to build it with us. If you like asking questions, owning your work and making an impact that actually matters, keep reading.

We’re reimagining how organizations protect people and assets. We have open roles in engineering, GSOC, sales, marketing, customer success and people ops. You’ll work out of El Segundo, CA, where Silicon Beach meets the actual beach.

Most SOC budgets cover the obvious: people, technology, space. The hidden costs are what blow them up.

HiveWatch Director of GSOC and Advisory Ross Smiedendorf wrote about them in Security Management Magazine. Think software that needs its own coordinator, constant maintenance, and capacity lost every time a service expands.

His rule of thumb is to keep utilization around 65-70% so your team can still handle the real incidents.

Copper theft is rarely about the copper. It's about the 911 calls that don't connect and the banks that go dark.

A top telecom was losing $100K+ per hit, multiple times a week. We built them a GSOC instead of making them wait a year. First arrests came in 72 hours. 25+ total. Zero repeat hits.

See how it came together: https://na2.hubs.ly/H08dkDj0

The busy work is going away. The GSOC isn't.

Our team took the stage to talk about where security ops meets engineering. Short version: AI should take the alarm noise and tool overload, so operators can make the calls that matter.

Pikes Peak Library District had 780 cameras, 150+ doors, and systems that didn't talk to each other. Now they have one SOC and one view.

Ever wonder why your security team feels buried, even though you've invested in good tools?

Here's the catch. Most physical security setups grew one purchase at a time. Access control, cameras, alarms, visitor management. Each one works fine on its own. None of them were built to work together.

So operators bridge the gap by hand. On average, that's 4.7 different apps per shift. At larger organizations with 10+ locations, it's 5.6.

The fix isn't ripping everything out. It's putting one platform on top of what you already have. One queue. Fewer false alarms hitting a human. The context you need, right when you need it.

We break it all down in our latest article: https://na2.hubs.ly/H082MH50

Living in sunny, beautiful California has its perks. The view's great. But the people are why you stay.

Our Culture Crew planned an after-work beach evening for the team. Sand. A bonfire. Snacks. A competitive game of bocce that may have ramifications for years to come. 🌅

At HiveWatch, we challenge how the industry does things. We make good tools finally talk to each other. It's real work, and we take it seriously. So when the laptops close, we take the fun just as seriously.

What you get here:
✅ A team that's in it together. Partners, not org charts.
✅ Work that matters.
✅ Room to speak up, try new things, and grow.
✅ Coworkers who'll save you a spot by the fire.

A cut fence at a remote substation isn't just a physical security problem. A strange login on that same site's network isn't just a cyber problem.

On the grid, they're often the same problem. But the teams working them usually sit in different rooms, use different systems, and hear about each other's alarms after the fact.

That gap is where the risk lives.

Remote sites don't need more cameras. They need physical and cyber teams looking at the same picture, at the same time, and knowing who moves first.

That's the conversation we want to have at GridSecCon. Find us at booth #704 in Orlando, Oct 20–23.

Here's a stat that stuck with us: the average security team fields 342 alarms a day. At least a third are false.

AI can fix that. But only if you actually deploy it.

HiveWatch Co-Founder & CEO Ryan Schonfeld on why so many companies are stuck debating AI, and what the ones pulling ahead are doing differently.
