POV: you are setting the girders on the new US 378 bridge over Twelve Mile Creek in Lexington County.😏👾

In the last week, SCDOT contract crews made sure that all the girders were in place to make way for a new bridge deck on this structure.

When you pass by, slow down and be sure to give the crew space to get their work done safely.

The US 378 bridge over the Little Saluda River in Saluda County is making noticeable progress! 👀

There’s still work ahead, including the new roadway approaches, shoulders, guardrail, and paving, but it’s exciting to see just how much change has been made!

The new bridge is expected to open to traffic in Summer 2027.

The Leesburg Road widening project is well underway. 🛣️

This includes curb and gutter work that crews can be seen doing on Fairmont Drive, as shown here.

Five miles of Leesburg Road are being widened from two lanes to five, to help alleviate traffic in this rapidly growing area. This project also includes upgraded intersections, improved drainage, and a new sidewalk along Leesburg Road.

The project is expected to be fully complete in mid-2027.

Driven over the I-95 Lake Marion bridges recently? Then you’ve seen these two cranes in the water! 🌊

The barges are called the Hampton Roads and the Annapolis, both of which were brought down the Intracoastal Waterway from Maryland to support this bridge replacement project. 🚧

Even though they’re neat to look at, SCDOT asks that you keep your eyes on the road while driving over Lake Marion to keep yourself and the drivers around you safe! ✅

Paving improvements are being made in West Columbia!

Fresh new asphalt has been installed on Charleston Highway, seeing about half a mile of improvements. Crews are also paving on Airport Road to improve about two and a half additional miles and upgrade pedestrian access points, too.

This project is one of several that are part of SCDOT's 2026 Pavement Improvement Program.

When you travel down I-77 in Blythewood, we want you to know just how proud we are of our amazing state. 💙

That’s why the walls on the two new bridges feature a special South Carolina touch. The concrete panels have stamps featuring the outline of our state and a Palmetto tree to add a little Carolina flair built right into the design. 🌴

The stamps will eventually be painted a beautiful blue to help them really pop!

SCDOT crews are preparing for potential impacts from Hurricane Isaias this weekend. Ahead of possible heavy rain, crews are clearing drainage systems and checking known problem areas to help keep our roads safe.

Heavy rain and high winds can lead to debris and flooded roadways. Never drive through standing water. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Follow SCDOT and South Carolina Emergency Management Division for the latest road conditions, safety alerts, and storm updates.
