The traditional static lead form might finally be on its way out.

Google just dropped a massive update at Marketing Live that completely changes how businesses capture leads on Search. It is called Business Agent for Leads, and it represents a major shift toward agentic commerce where AI actually executes complex workflows instead of just generating text.

Instead of a prospect clicking an ad and filling out a static form, they are met with a Gemini-powered virtual agent directly within the search ad. Potential customers can ask specific questions and get instant, round-the-clock answers based entirely on your websites content.

This interactive dialogue qualifies the lead in real time. It ensures their needs actually match what you offer before a pre-filled lead form is ever submitted. For your sales team, this means higher-quality, high-intent prospects and significantly less friction in the pipeline. Plus, the AI is strictly grounded in your approved messaging, eliminating the risk of off-script answers.

Right now, this feature is in open beta for US advertisers in select verticals like education, automotive, and real estate, with broader access expected soon.

But there is a catch regarding eligibility. To run this, you need a verified Google Merchant Center account with at least 50 approved offers, a claimed brand profile, and you must be running AI Max or Performance Max campaigns with text customization. Standard Search and Display campaigns are not eligible.

Small business owners running Google Ads, check your accounts today. A recent update to the platform just completely changed how your monthly budget is spent, and it could result in a surprise bill if you do not adjust your settings.

If you use ad scheduling to only run your ads on specific days or during business hours, this directly impacts you. Previously, your monthly spend was based on the actual number of days your ads were active. For example, if your daily budget was 100 dollars for a Monday through Friday schedule, your ads ran for about 22 days, and you spent around 2,200 dollars a month.

That is no longer how the system works.

Under the new pacing logic, Google now attempts to spend your full monthly budget limit, which they automatically calculate as 30.4 times your daily budget, regardless of how few days your ads are actually scheduled to run.

This means instead of naturally pacing for 22 days, the system will now push aggressively to spend 3,040 dollars inside that exact same Monday through Friday window. To hit this new monthly target, Google will spend up to twice your daily budget on your active days, compressing your spend into a shorter window and exhausting your funds much faster.

Your ads will still only show during the days and hours you selected, but if you have always relied on ad scheduling to naturally keep your monthly costs down, your current daily budget is likely set too high.

To fix this and protect your cash flow, you need to update your campaigns immediately. Take your ideal total monthly marketing budget and divide it by 30.4. Whatever that number is, enter it as your new daily budget in Google Ads.
