Where does generative AI deliver in legal work, and where does it fall short? What does defensibility require in practice? And how do inside and outside counsel align on an approach they can both defend?

Those are the questions on the table in our upcoming live webinar. Representatives from Microsoft’s Discovery and Competition and Market Regulation teams join a co-managing partner from Redgrave LLP to talk through Microsoft’s hands-on deployment across document review and privilege review, and Redgrave’s independent study comparing generative AI to traditional review.

This event is live only, so make sure to join us on November 5: https://ow.ly/LfhZ50ZYbCJ

Ten years ago, a large matter might have been 50,000 documents. Today that’s a small matter, and Array’s largest has topped 70 million.

On the Relativity blog, we sat down with Julia Helmer, JD, vice president of advisory and analytics at Array, and Eric Wendt, senior product manager at Relativity, to talk through what that shift has meant for processing. Julia walks through the practical gains her team has seen, like processing UFDR cell phone data directly instead of losing a day or more sending it out for conversion and reading the Google Metadata Sidecar file so case teams don’t lose the version history and access details that can matter to proving a case.

The question used to be whether you could process 20 million documents. Now it’s what you can learn from them.

Read about how processing workflows have transformed over the last decade, what modern data challenges keep practitioners up at night, and what's on the horizon for teams looking to move from collection to review faster and smarter.

In regulated industries, there's a good chance the evidence a case team needs is already sitting in a Smarsh archive. Getting it into review has traditionally meant exporting, downloading, and manually uploading, with every hop leaving room for a file to get missed or a version to get overwritten.

The new Collect capability for Smarsh Enterprise Archive gives those teams a direct path instead. Case data moves from Smarsh into without the manual middle step, so teams get to review faster and the path the data took is shorter, more consistent, and easier to defend if anyone asks about it later.

On the Relativity Blog, senior product manager Greg Evans breaks down what changes for litigation support, legal technology, and compliance teams in financial services, insurance, healthcare, and pharma.

Regulated industries rely on Smarsh to archive emails, chats, and files. When a matter arises, evidence is likely in those archives. Now, there is a direct, defensible bridge between Smarsh and Relativity aiR.

Relativity Academic welcomed 18 new schools in 2026. The next generation of legal professionals is learning on the same technology the industry relies on.

Since 2012, the program has partnered with more than 115 universities, law schools, paralegal and data science programs across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and select Asian and European countries.

Relativity Academic has equipped over 3,000 students in the past year alone with hands-on experience using the same technology corporations, law firms, service providers, and government agencies rely on every day.

Supporting emerging legal talent is one of the things that defines this community.

On the Relativity Blog, Aurora Bryant, Senior Manager for Applied Legal Intelligence, goes inside the evaluation suite that runs every aiR Assist answer through more than a dozen independent checks: faithfulness to the record, groundedness in the actual evidence, citation quality, attribution, and completeness.

The underlying principle: in a high-stakes domain, reliability has to be engineered, not assumed and retrofitted after the fact.

One wrong citation or one wrong fact, and your defensibility is at risk. See the evaluation checks we built into aiR Assist to make sure every answer holds up.

"Clients don't just want faster answers, they want answers they can rely on." That's the standard Alison Grounds, Managing Partner of Troutman eMerge, says is applied to any new technology before it becomes part of how Troutman Pepper Locke works.

Its case teams signed up for the Advanced Access program for to put the advanced features to work, showing how conversational AI can make complex legal data more accessible without sacrificing the governance and defensibility that high-stakes legal work requires.

Troutman Pepper Locke joins KPMG, Latham & Watkins LLP, and Ashurst Perkins Coie in shaping claiR ahead of its planned general availability in early 2027.

The Judicial Panel has been a tradition for 13 years, and this year's may have been the most useful yet, on a topic that generates a lot of conversation.

Stephen Embry's recap for Above the Law focuses on what the panelist judges had to say about AI hallucinations, and it offers a more nuanced view than most. Embry's own take is that calling hallucinations just a lazy lawyer problem ignores the world lawyers actually work in, where delegation and trust have always been part of the job.

Thanks to Stephen Embry for attending the session, and to Dr. Victoria McCloud, Judge (Ret.), U.S. Magistrate Judge William Matthewman, Judge Michelle Rick of the Michigan Court of Appeals, U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison Goddard, and U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez for another insightful Judicial Panel.
