Planning a move off VMware? The hard part usually isn't copying the VMs. It's the cutover.

Our webinar "VMware to Apache CloudStack: A Practical Approach to Large-Scale Migration with Minimal Downtime" is now available on demand. In a live demo, we show how Hystax Platform replicates workloads while the source keeps running, lets you test them as many times as you need before cutover, and handles the final switchover to CloudStack.

Watch the teaser, then register for the full session: https://youtu.be/1yPkUEgN81c

🔹 Your AI gateway holds every model API key your company owns. That's what makes it such a valuable target.

🔖 In March, a poisoned security scanner let attackers publish two backdoored versions of LiteLLM, one of the most popular open-source AI gateways. The versions were live for about 40 minutes. CloudSEK counts 2,500+ organizations potentially exposed.

🔹 Stolen AI keys get resold or used to run workloads on your account, a practice known as "LLMjacking." Sysdig estimated a single case can cost over $46,000 a day. Usually, nobody notices until the bill arrives.

We broke down what happened, what it costs, and what to check if you might be affected

📍 If you run LiteLLM yourself, it's been a demanding year. Between March and June, a malicious release on PyPI was built to steal credentials, an authentication bypass rated 9.4, a flaw added to CISA's actively exploited list, and a privilege-escalation chain rated 9.9.

The maintainers fixed it all fast. But someone on your team still has to apply every fix, on a deadline you don't set, for a service that holds every API key you have.

🔹 We looked at what that really costs, which alternatives are worth a look, and how to decide between self-hosted and managed: https://optscale.ai/blog/litellm-alternatives-self-hosted-gateway?utm_source=socials&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=litellm_alternatives

🔖 Only 41% of ransomware victims can restore from backup without paying – because in 26% of extortion cases, the attackers hit the backups first (Unit 42, 2026).

The weak point is simple: a normal backup is protected only by credentials, and credentials get stolen.

An immutable backup removes that option. Once a restore point is written to Object Lock (WORM) storage, nobody can delete, overwrite, or encrypt it until the retention period ends – not ransomware, not an admin, not even the account's root user in compliance mode.

✅ Our new guide explains how it works, how governance and compliance modes differ, how to build it for KVM, OpenStack, oVirt, Proxmox, and other virtual environments, and how to set it up in 7 steps. Hystax Acura now supports Apache CloudStack for live migration, disaster recovery, and backup.

Migrate from VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, public clouds, or physical servers into CloudStack while workloads keep running, run as many test migrations as you need on the real target, and protect the migrated VMs with DR and backup – all from one platform.

CloudStack also works as a DR site for workloads running elsewhere.

🔖 Hystax is heading to the Cloud X Summit by STACKIT 2026 – 17 September, RheinMain CongressCenter, Wiesbaden, with the Partner Summit by Schwarz Digits the day before.

The theme is digital sovereignty: running your data and applications securely and independently, in Europe. Getting there usually means moving workloads off VMware or a hyperscaler and then keeping them protected once they've landed.

💼 As a STACKIT technology partner, Hystax Acura handles both sides: agentless migration to STACKIT from VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, bare metal, and public clouds, plus disaster recovery and backup once you're running there.

🤝 Coming to Wiesbaden? Reach out through the Schwarz Events app, message us directly (Edwin – [email protected] or Silas – [email protected]), or comment below – we'll set up a time.

📊 A $0.02 budget cap admitted $0.225 of spend – and the dashboard reported every cent of it correctly, right afterward.

Both things were true at once. Spend reporting and budget enforcement ran through different code paths. One worked. The other reserved nothing.

💼 We spent two weeks reading LiteLLM's public issue tracker and found six reproduced defects, all on the enforcement path. A deny rule on MCP tools that logged "Passed" and let the tool run – on every published version from 1.95.1 to 1.100.1. A team budget update that returned 200 and reached nobody already on the team. A blocked call that never wrote a row to the spend log, so to an auditor it never happened.

Nothing crashed. Nothing paged anyone. That's the pattern. A monitoring bug costs you a data point. An enforcement bug costs you money, control, or an audit finding – and it does it quietly, because nobody is supposed to be watching a gate that's working.

📍 This isn't an argument against open source. The maintainers move fast and fix in public. It's a question about the window between the report and the fix, and about which release that fix lands in. On open source, that window is yours to own.

Five questions worth asking before a gateway goes into your enforcement path 👇
