Your cybersecurity is only as strong as your weakest supplier.
Manufacturing runs on a web of vendors, suppliers, and third-party systems, and every connection is a potential way in for an attacker. A breach at a supplier with access to your network, your data, or your systems becomes your breach too.
This isn't hypothetical. Some of the most damaging manufacturing attacks in recent years didn't start with the manufacturer at all... they started with a trusted vendor.
A few things that matter most for supply chain security:
- Know exactly who has access to your systems and why
- Vet vendors' security posture before you grant that access
- Limit third-party access to only what's needed, nothing more
- Have a plan for when a vendor gets breached, not just "if"
You can have great security internally and still be exposed through a partner who doesn't. Supply chain risk is your risk. https://www.techriver.com/what-we-do/managed-it-services-for-manufacturing-companies/
