Thousands of clinicians. A hard Citrix renewal deadline. Zero room for disruption at the point of care.

That was the starting point for a regional healthcare network moving its entire digital workspace from on-premises Citrix to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.

Several thousand concurrent users. Epic and other clinical apps that had to work on day one.

Legacy profile and app delivery approaches were too slow and too rigid for the cloud. So the team turned to Liquidware ProfileUnity and FlexApp.

The key shift: clinical apps, including Epic, attach at boot instead of at login. App delivery moves out of the login sequence entirely.

The result was logins under 20 seconds and a migration finished well ahead of the renewal deadline. Their senior IT leader said the team didn't have to give up performance to hit the timeline.

A registry key used to take 30 seconds. In Intune, it can take half a day.

Liquidware ProfileUnity closes that gap, working side by side with Intune to handle what the Settings Catalog can't. Without it, the gaps get filled with scripts that need detection logic, break after Microsoft changes and become orphaned when their author leaves.

In his latest blog, Sander Noordijk explains how ProfileUnity handles registry items, printers, drive mappings, shortcuts and app restrictions, with user-level targeting that device management can't easily match.

A financial company found $475,900 in wasted spend. It was hiding in disconnected sessions nobody thought to check.

Here's the problem: someone disconnects from their virtual desktop but never logs off. The session stays open. The vCPU and RAM stay allocated. Nobody's using them, but you're still paying for them.

We saw this firsthand running Stratusphere UX in one customer's environment. In a sample of 69 workspaces monitored over seven days, nearly 13 vCPUs were being consumed by sessions that were disconnected, not logged off. That's real infrastructure sitting idle while budgets tighten.

Scale that pattern across their full 3,500 virtual workspaces and the number gets big fast.

Most platforms give you tools to auto-disconnect idle sessions. GPOs, timeout intervals, all the standard levers. But none of that works if you can't see which sessions are actually sitting there wasted in the first place.

Visibility is the missing piece. Once you can see it, you can fix it.
