Yann LeCun

The Turing Award-winning computer scientist who pioneered machine learning and computer vision. He is dubbed the father of the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), a type of network architecture that helps in image recognition.

Not just rooted in academia, he was the first director of the AI Research Lab at Facebook. Under him, the company had several AI innovations. These include bringing down hate speeches and the development of PyTorch, an open-source deep learning platform. Currently, he's the VP & Chief AI scientist at Meta, focusing on research.

As one of the Godfathers of AI, he is a strong proponent of the usage and evolution of AI in today's world, calling out people who say AI is a threat to humanity as "preposterously ridiculous".
