Triple Alpha’s Helium language offers BASIC-like programming for quantum computers. Sitting above Hydrogen, it is a Turing-complete language that simplifies the development of complex quantum applications and expands on Hydrogen's control flow block system by introducing familiar control flow structures such as conditional statements, increment/repeat-until loops, and subroutines including subroutines written in C.

Check out this demo video to learn more about programming in Helium.

Hydrogen—Triple Alpha's hardware-agnostic, intermediate representation—is a Turing-complete language where the results of mid-circuit measurements can affect control flow, letting programs adapt as they run. Interested in learning more?

Check out this demo video to see how to write Hydrogen code that assigns inputs and outputs for API requests, performs classical arithmetic, works with arrays, and uses control flow blocks.

Triple Alpha enables programmers to code at multiple levels of abstraction. Hydrogen, its Turing-complete, hardware-agnostic gate-level language, serves as an intermediate representation and allows developers to put the commands defined in their instruction sets to use.

Watch this demo video to learn how to use a restricted form of Hydrogen that contains only native gate sets to target supported quantum hardware directly.

We’ve launched a series of demo videos showing developers how to use Triple Alpha, our integrated development environment, and its hardware-agnostic languages. This video shows users how to write and specify an instruction set.

Interested in learning more? Check out the demo video to see how Triple Alpha gives you full flexibility in defining and switching between instruction sets, so you can define your own unitary and non-unitary quantum operations, as well as pulses.

Beryllium, Triple Alpha's object-oriented programming language, lets developers build quantum programs with a rich type system: primitive numeric and quantum system datatypes, and composite datatypes built from them. It includes arrays, structs, and classes, analogous to those used in today's classical programming languages.

Where Hydrogen acts as an intermediate representation and Helium adds BASIC-like control flow, Beryllium brings the full richness of a high-level programming language to quantum computing: C-style control flow, functions with typed inputs and outputs, user-defined modules to import, and object-oriented programming constructs like classes.

Check out this demo video to learn more about programming in Beryllium, including how to work with typed functions, primitive and composite datatypes, modules, classes, jump statements, nested loops, and more.

Classical programming concepts like classes, function pointers, and user-defined libraries have transformed software development. Beryllium brings them to quantum programming.

Our latest blog post explains why we decided to build Beryllium, our object-oriented quantum programming language. Read on to discover what makes Beryllium different from other quantum programming frameworks and to learn how object-oriented quantum programming makes quantum software development more accessible to those without deep quantum expertise.

Beryllium applies familiar object-oriented programming principles to quantum software development. It allows developers to define reusable quantum data types analogous to those used in today’s classical programming languages.

“Hardware has been making tremendous progress in terms of getting towards useful quantum computers. But hardware is only part of the picture. Without software, computers don’t live up to their full potential,” our CEO Dr Joe Fitzsimons said at the Nasdaq opening bell ceremony on the first day of our listing. “Seven years ago, we set out on a mission to build a software infrastructure to enable developers to build software that runs on quantum computers, that harnesses quantum computers to deliver real value for their end users. We are delighted to be pushing forward on that journey. I’m really proud of the progress we’ve made, of pushing the frontiers both in terms of programming languages, and also now with the first steps towards a true quantum operating system.”

One month from our Nasdaq debut, the significance of this milestone is still unfolding. We marked this important moment at the Nasdaq tower together with our team members, investors, collaborators, family, and friends.

Becoming a public company is an important step in Horizon Quantum’s journey—and it is also the result of years of work from our team, partners, and supporters. We’re grateful to everyone who has helped bring us to this point.

As we move forward, our focus remains unchanged. We’re excited to advance our mission of unlocking broad quantum advantage by building the software infrastructure that empowers developers to use quantum computing to solve the world’s toughest computational problems.

Today, we are excited to announce that we have entered into a strategic agreement with IonQ, marking a new step in our efforts to enable broad quantum advantage.

Horizon Quantum will purchase one of IonQ’s first 6th-generation, chip-based 256-qubit trapped-ion systems—an acquisition that will further our progress towards unlocking the full potential of quantum computing with our software platform.

With microwave gate operations and 99.99% gate fidelity, IonQ’s 256-qubit system is designed to provide researchers and developers significantly more computing capacity to explore complex problems, producing more accurate and reliable solutions using our software infrastructure.

The acquisition of this system enables us to expand the capabilities of our hardware testbed beyond Ember-1—our initial superconducting system—with a second, technologically distinct hardware modality, helping us make further progress towards our goal of building the most capable, hardware-agnostic environment for quantum software development.

“I could not be more delighted to be working with IonQ to bring trapped ion and world-leading gate fidelities to our testbed,” said our Founder and CEO Dr Joe Fitzsimons. “Bringing a state-of-the-art system with the capabilities of hundreds of qubits will provide an important and cutting-edge resource to bear in our quest to unlock broad quantum advantage for developers.”
