Some of the changes coming in the Eurocode generation 2 might look small on paper, yet have a real impact in practice. Here are 4 areas to keep on your radar.

- Deflections
- Snow Loads
- Section Classification
- Minimum Reinforcement

“We are working hard to implement the second-generation Eurocodes in both Simplex and FEM-Design, and we are getting very close to completing the standard implementation. The next big question is what the national annexes will bring,” says Isak Björhag, Head of 2D R&D at StruSoft.

Reducing manual model corrections and fixing broken geometries in your BIM workflow starts with reliable data exchange between Revit and FEM-Design. If you missed our recent webinar on creating an efficient and stable Revit to FEM-Design workflow, the recording is now available to watch on demand.

In this session, you’ll see how to achieve consistent model transfer and minimise the time spent repairing analytical models, so you can focus on structural design instead of troubleshooting data exchange issues.

Topics covered include:

- Physical vs analytical model workflows
- IFC vs direct API exchange
- Automatic conversion with minimal manual input
- Stable, consistent structural models across tools

We have some good news to share from behind the scenes: FEM-Design API 2.0 is in the works! The FEM-Design API was originally developed with Grasshopper workflows in mind. Since many of our users work in that environment, the integration has provided a powerful way to automate modeling and analysis tasks.

However, engineering workflows are changing rapidly, and AI is becoming a major part of that transformation. That's why our experts, Marco Pellegrino and Andrea Lőrincz have been working on what we often call a "refactor" but, in reality, is a complete rewrite.

Over the coming months, we'll be sharing more demos, examples, and insights into what's possible. Stay tuned! 😊

Recently, our colleagues Marek Krawczyk and Jan Wrobel had the opportunity to participate to the 40th National Construction Designer Workshop in Wisła, organized by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians, Małopolska Branch.

They met with structural engineers from across Poland, discussed FEM-Design workflows, and exchanged insights on some of the industry's current challenges, including geotechnics and its impact on building and civil engineering projects.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, shared their experiences, and asked questions. It’s great to see increasing interest in FEM-Design and to continue strengthening our presence in the Polish market through such local events, partnerships, and technical discussions.

With the FIFA World Cup currently underway, it feels like the perfect moment to highlight a stadium case study and celebrate the beauty of the game.

Whether you're a football fan or not, the new Aarhus Stadium has an interesting design. It brings together bold architectural ideas and complex structural demands, such as distinctive precast “tree-like” columns and long-span steel roof girders.

To make this possible, Sweco relied on FEM-Design for advanced structural analysis, helping ensure both precision and performance across key elements of the design.

As we get closer to the release of Simplex Column, we’re putting effort into improving reporting and documentation across the Simplex apps. Alongside Simplex Column, we’re also updating the report formats in Simplex Beam and Simplex Foundation.

We’re currently working with:

- One-pager: a concise summary of key results
- Normal: a complete report of up to five pages
- Full: detailed documentation with all available information

We’re also introducing multi-print, a feature requested by users. It allows you to select multiple files in Simplex Center and generate a single merged PDF for the entire project.

It's great to see these improvements taking shape. They reflect ongoing user feedback and our commitment to making reporting clearer, more flexible, and more efficient. We look forward to hearing what our users think.

Error: Large nodal displacement. This is a classic FEA issue, meaning a small modelling inaccuracy that are surprisingly difficult to detect. Most of us have run into this at some point. It can be any of the following:

•A barely visible gap between members.
•A support that looks connected, but isn’t.
•A load that appears correct, yet isn’t actually applied to the intended node or element.

In Simplex Frame, for example, the goal is to eliminate these situations as much as possible. One way we address it is through relational objects. Instead of placing elements independently, everything is defined in relation to something else:

•Supports reference node IDs
•Loads are applied relative to member geometry (e.g. L/2 or a defined distance)
•Objects stay linked, even when the model changes

So, if you move or modify a member, connected loads and supports follow accordingly. It may sound like a small detail, but in practice it significantly reduces modelling errors. And behind the scenes, handling all possible cases is far more complex than it seems.
