Eurocode Generation 2 is coming. The question is no longer whether you need to prepare, but how and when you start. To help you in this transition, FEM-Design 25.01 is now available and includes the first implementation of selected second-generation Eurocodes. It lets you explore how upcoming requirements may influence design assumptions, load calculations, and everyday workflows.

The currently implemented parts include:

- EN 1990-1: Basis of structural and geotechnical design
- EN 1991-1-3: Snow loads
- EN 1991-2: Traffic loads
- EN 1992-1-1: Design of concrete structures, general rules
- EN 1992-1-2: Structural fire design
- EN 1993-1-8: Design of steel structures, joints (excluding bracing joints)
- EN 1996-1-1: Design of masonry structures, general rules
- EN 1998-1-1: Earthquake resistance, general rules
- EN 1998-1-2: Earthquake resistance, buildings

Most structural engineers learn how to use shell elements. Fewer learn how they work. If you've ever looked at Mxy, twisting moments, coupling effects, or reinforcement directions and thought, "I trust the software, but I'm not sure I fully understand what's happening", this video is for you.

Structural engineers know what change feels like: a new software feature, a new workflow, a national code change, sometimes an entirely new software platform. But the bigger change nowadays will be the transition to Eurocode Generation 2.

While FEM-Design 25 introduced important capabilities such as the 7 DoF warping bar model, improved interoperability, and productivity enhancements, the design standards behind our calculations are evolving too.

The biggest impact of Eurocode Generation 2 may not come from one major change, but from many smaller ones that gradually reshape everyday engineering practice, such as updated load combinations, new snow-load provisions, or changes to concrete design.
