Docomo's 5G pocket wifi The Wi-Fi STATION SH-52B is the latest model in NTT Docomo's " Wi-Fi STATION " series of mobile routers. While it supports 5G, it achieves a smaller and lighter size by only supporting Sub6. The front features a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240 dots) TFT LCD touchscreen, allowing users to check signal strength and configure various settings.
NTT Docomo will deploy 5G using the 3.7GHz band n77 (3.6-3.7GHz) and the 4.5GHz band n79 (4.5-4.6GHz) for Sub6. High-speed data communication services are available with 5G at a maximum download speed of 4.2Gbps and a maximum upload speed of 218Mbps, and with 4G at a maximum download speed of 1.7Gbps and a maximum upload speed of 131.3Mbps.
Furthermore, the wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) supports Wi-Fi 6 with a maximum upload and download speed of 1.2Gbps, allowing simultaneous connection of up to 17 devices such as tablets and PCs (16 via Wi-Fi, 1 via wired LAN, or 1 via USB), and ensuring high-speed and stable communication even when multiple devices are connected. The Wi-Fi supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (2.4 and 5.x GHz).
The Wi-Fi supports the new WPA3 standard, and also features privacy separators and stealth SSIDs, allowing for flexible adaptation to security policies and enabling IT administrators to manage multiple connected devices at once. The dimensions are approximately 74 x 108 x 16 mm (tentative), the weight is yet to be determined, and the device will only be available in one color: black.
Furthermore, the device is equipped with a USB Type-C port (USB 3.0), allowing for simultaneous use of Wi-Fi and wired (USB 3.0) connections. Additionally, with the separately sold cradle, simultaneous use of Wi-Fi and wired (1000BASE-T) connections is also possible, allowing users to choose the appropriate connection method depending on the usage scenario and connected devices.
