Classes are cancelled, government offices are closed, and your office group chat has gone quiet. Nobodyโs sure if itโs a day off or not.
Three things worth knowing:
๐ Private companies decide for themselves. A Palace suspension covers government offices and schools. Your employer makes its own call, unless a law or proclamation says otherwise.
๐ Working from home is a regular paid day. It is not a day off. Overtime and night differential still apply, exactly like in the office.
๐ Upcoming holidays on August 21 and August 31 are not the same. Aug 21 is a special non-working day. Aug 31 is a regular holiday. Different pay rules for each, so check your payslip.
And if youโre the one who has to make the call for your team: the easiest version of this morning is the one where the policy was already written months ago, on a dry day.
