New website for the rapas newest fab duo Kath and Jackson at Jacko Finance. Jacko has come about as a direct result of their disgust at helping people refinance out of horrific vehicle loans of up to 30%. Instead of being the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff they created Jacko a finance broker which gives people loan choices out of many lenders, much better interest rates and much better terms.

When Kath and Jackson approached me to create their Jacko Finance brand, I loved the reason behind why they were starting it.

Through their work with Wairarapa Home Loans, they had seen people struggling with vehicle loans carrying huge interest rates of up to 30% worse many had no idea what interest rates they were paying. After helping clients refinance and save money, they saw an opportunity to help more people find better vehicle finance options.

Jacko Finance was born — helping Kiwis get on the road with access to more cheaper choices from some of New Zealand’s leading finance providers.

I’m proud to have helped bring the brand to life, including the branding, website, stationery, print material and advertising campaign.

Over the last few months I've had a few new clients come to me to create branding files for embroidery for clothing. Here is one which I was particularly happy with. Often with the Maori design work the client will come to me with a rough sketch they have made up which needs to be stylized substantially and turned into a format that can then be applied to clothing or other media, so I look at this work as a creative collaboration between myself and the client.

One exciting job I've been working on this year is the design and build of the Wairarapa Road Safety Council website as well as their brand design. The Wairarapa Road Safety Council delivers local programmes—supporting young drivers, families, drink driving rehabilitation, and older road users—to reduce harm and promote safer journeys.

One challenge in designing this was how to present a large amount of information in a way that was easy to navigate and read. Rather than presenting the viewer with “walls” of text, I broke the content into sections using anchor links, helping users easily find what they are looking for. All in all, this is a thorough site, giving Wairarapa locals access to a wide range of important information, from local roadworks to various courses.

New logo for Balfour and Wright Crutching.
The client came to me after trying an AI-generated version that just wasn’t hitting the mark. I re-illustrated and refined the logo into something clean, balanced, and practical across all applications — and delivered a result the client was very happy with.

I’ll be honest, I had early concerns about AI moving into an area I’ve been passionate about since I was a kid. It’s great for quick concepts and idea generation, but when it comes to proper refinement, balance, and real-world usability, I believe it consistently falls short. That gap is exactly where good design still matters — and why I’ve actually seen more work coming through as a result.
