A business owner once told us, at Smafotech Limited “Sales have been very low. Not many people are coming into the shop.”
So we had a proper need-analysis session with her.
At first, the location looked like the problem.
But as we dug deeper, we realised that the location was not really the biggest issue.
The bigger issue was visibility.
She had a physical shop in Lagos, but most of the people who could potentially buy from her didn't even know she existed.
And this is where social media becomes more than just posting pictures.
We explained how she could build a stronger online presence, optimise her page, understand her sales funnel, train her team, and create a system that allows people to discover her business, trust her, place orders and have their products delivered.
She wouldn't have to depend only on the people who pass by her physical shop.
Someone in another part of Lagos could see her product online, make an enquiry, pay and receive delivery.
Because business is a game of numbers.
The more relevant people see what you offer, the more opportunities you create to make sales.
People need to know you.
Then they need to like what they see.
Then they need to trust you.
Know. Like. Trust.
We explained all of this and gave her a proposal based on what we had identified.
She said she would get back to us.
She didn't.
The proposal had a validity period of two weeks, and when that period elapsed, the offer expired.
Later, she came back upset that the previous price could no longer be used.
But this is where I think many business owners need to think differently.
Knowing what is wrong is not the same as being willing to fix it.
You can know that your business needs better visibility.
You can know that your social media is not working.
You can know that your team needs training.
You can know that your sales process needs attention.
But if you keep postponing the investment required to solve those problems, the business will keep experiencing the same problems.
Sometimes, people are willing to spend money feeding themselves, dressing themselves, taking care of their health and improving their comfort, but when it comes to investing in the
