39 YEARS OF AKWA IBOM: A LAND OF PROMISE, PEOPLE AND POSSIBILITY
Today, Transformation TV by Richezza Capital joins the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State in celebrating 39 years of the state’s creation.
Created on 23 September 1987, Akwa Ibom has grown into a state recognised for its rich cultural heritage, natural resources, peaceful environment and distinctive identity in Nigeria’s South-South region. Known as the “Land of Promise,” the state has built a story that stretches from its coastal communities and agricultural traditions to its growing urban centres and economic activities. (Akwa Ibom State Government)
Akwa Ibom’s story is also deeply connected to its people and culture. Its traditions are reflected in its music, dance, food, arts and crafts, while its coastline, fishing communities and historical sites add to the character of the state. From the historic Bridge of No Return in Ikot Abasi to Ibeno and the wider coastal landscape, the state carries layers of history that continue to shape its identity. (Akwa Ibom State Government)
Thirty-nine years on, the story continues to evolve.
Akwa Ibom has positioned itself around opportunities in areas including agriculture, tourism, maritime activities, oil and gas, aviation and other sectors, while continuing to build on the resources and identity that make the state unique. (Akwa Ibom State Government)
Today, we celebrate not just the creation of a state, but the people, culture, history and aspirations that have shaped its journey over 39 years.
From all of us at Transformation TV by Richezza Capital, we celebrate Akwa Ibom State.
Happy 39th Anniversary, Akwa Ibom.
Here’s to the journey so far, and to the promise of what lies ahead.
