๐Ÿค– AI Servers Are Getting More Expensive

The AI boom is pushing up the cost of the hardware needed to power it.

NVIDIA has reportedly warned some customers that AI server prices could rise by more than 15%, with higher costs expected from 2027.

One major reason is rising memory costs. AI servers require huge amounts of high-performance memory, while demand continues to surge.

As AI infrastructure expands, the cost of building and operating AI data centres could rise too.

๐Ÿ’ก The AI race isn't just about powerful chips. It's also about having enough memory to power them.

๐ŸŽฎ Affordable GPUs Could Become Harder to Find

The entry-level graphics card market could face serious shortages in the second half of 2026, according to PC Partner Group, the company behind brands such as ZOTAC, INNO3D and Manli.

The problem comes down to rising memory costs and limited supply. While high-end GPUs have already seen major price increases, the pressure is now reaching more affordable cards such as the RTX 3050, RTX 5050 and RX 9050.

Entry-level GPUs have traditionally been the more affordable option for gamers and budget PC builders. If supply continues to tighten, even building a basic gaming PC could become significantly more expensive.

With GPU, RAM and SSD prices all under pressure, the cost of putting together a new PC could continue climbing.

๐Ÿ’พ RAM Prices Are Exploding. Is AI to Blame?

Building or upgrading a PC is getting more expensive, and DDR5 RAM is one of the biggest problems.

New data from Germany shows DDR5 memory prices in July 2026 reached around 448% of their July 2025 level, meaning the average price is now more than four times higher than a year ago.

The main pressure comes from the growing demand for memory used in AI data centres, which is putting strain on global DRAM supply. As manufacturers prioritise higher-value AI and server memory, consumer PC components are also being affected.

For PC builders, gamers and businesses, this could mean higher costs for new systems and upgrades if the shortage continues.

๐Ÿค– AI may be powering the next generation of technology, but it's also changing the cost of the hardware we use every day.

Would you still build a new PC with RAM prices this high?

๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ 23 Buttons on a Mouse. Is More Really Better?

Razerโ€™s new Naga V3 Pro is an interesting example of how gaming peripherals are becoming increasingly specialised.

Designed primarily for MMO and strategy games, the mouse features up to 23 programmable buttons, interchangeable side panels, and a 50,000 DPI optical sensor. It also supports wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity, with polling rates of up to 8,000Hz when paired with compatible hardware.

But the interesting part isn't simply the number of buttons.

Modern gaming mice are increasingly becoming customisable input devices, allowing players to configure controls around specific games and playstyles. For genres where players manage dozens of abilities, items and commands, having more inputs directly on the mouse can reduce the need to reach for the keyboard.

It also raises an interesting question:

๐ŸŽฎ At what point does adding more controls improve gaming, and when does it simply become too much?

๐ŸŒ US Considers Ban on Chinese Optical Transceivers

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering a proposal to restrict imports of new optical transceivers made in China, a key component used to connect servers and networking equipment in modern AI data centres.

The move could have a major impact on the AI industry, as Chinese manufacturers currently account for around 56% of global optical module manufacturing capacity.

Optical interconnects are becoming increasingly important as AI data centres grow. They can provide higher bandwidth, lower latency, and better power efficiency compared with traditional copper connections.

With AI infrastructure expanding rapidly, the global technology supply chain is becoming increasingly strategic.

๐Ÿ” Could this create another major bottleneck for AI data centres?

๐Ÿ“ฑ Buy Your Next Smartphone or Subscribe to It?

As smartphone prices continue to rise, more brands are introducing subscription and leasing plans as an alternative to buying a device outright. Instead of paying a large upfront cost, users pay a monthly fee and can upgrade to a newer model when their plan ends.

For those who enjoy having the latest technology every year, a subscription can offer greater flexibility. However, if you prefer to keep your phone for several years, buying it outright may still provide better long-term value since you own the device and can resell or trade it in later.

As technology evolves, the way we access devices is changing too. The real question is no longer "Which phone should I buy?" but "Should I own it at all?"

Which would you choose: Buy or Subscribe?

๐Ÿš€ Could Google Overtake NVIDIA in the AI Chip Race?

A new analyst report suggests that Google could produce between 12 and 15 million of its next-generation AI accelerators (TPUs) by 2028, potentially matching or even exceeding the number of AI GPUs NVIDIA is expected to supply during the same period.

The move reflects a growing trend among major technology companies to develop their own AI chips, reducing reliance on third-party hardware while improving performance for their AI services and cloud platforms. To meet this massive production target, Google may even work with both TSMC and Intel Foundry to manufacture its next-generation processors.

As AI adoption continues to accelerate, the competition is no longer just about building smarter AI models, it's also about who can build the powerful hardware that drives them.

The future of AI isn't just software. It's the silicon behind it.

Do you think custom AI chips will reshape the industry and challenge NVIDIA's dominance?

โ˜€๏ธ Looking for a way to reduce your electricity bill? Solar could be the answer.

As electricity costs continue to rise, more Malaysian homes and businesses are turning to rooftop solar to lower their monthly energy expenses and reduce their reliance on the power grid.

Instead of generating extra income, many users are now installing solar to achieve consistent long-term savings and protect themselves from future tariff increases.

With financing options such as rent-to-own now widely available, going solar has become more affordable than ever, allowing users to enjoy positive monthly savings without paying a large upfront cost.

As Malaysia continues its transition towards renewable energy, investing in solar is becoming a practical step for both homeowners and businesses looking to improve energy efficiency and lower operating costs.

Have you considered installing solar panels for your home or business?

๐Ÿ“บ Panasonic to End TV Production in Malaysia

Panasonic has announced that it will stop TV production at its Shah Alam factory by September 2026 as part of a global restructuring plan. The factory is expected to cease operations by March 2027, affecting around 400 employees.

The good news is that Panasonic is not leaving Malaysia. The company will continue its sales and service operations, manufacture selected audio products, and maintain its investment in Malaysia, where it employs around 12,000 people across various businesses.

This reflects a growing trend in the electronics industry, where manufacturers are reorganising production to improve efficiency and remain competitive in a rapidly changing global market.

As technology continues to evolve, businesses must stay agile and adapt to industry changes.

๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ“ˆ GPU prices could be heading higher.

Recent reports indicate that NVIDIA RTX 50 Series graphics cards have seen significant price increases in China, with some MSI and Colorful models now selling up to 59% above MSRP. The increases are largely driven by rising GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory costs, supply chain constraints, and continued demand fueled by the AI industry.

While these changes are currently centered in China, they could signal broader pricing trends for the global PC hardware market if component costs continue to rise. Gamers, content creators, and businesses planning GPU upgrades may want to keep a close eye on the market in the coming months.

As AI adoption accelerates across industries, demand for high-performance hardware continues to reshape the technology landscape, affecting everything from enterprise servers to consumer graphics cards.

Do you think GPU prices will continue to rise, or will supply eventually catch up with demand?
