The third reason people give for not having a will is the most honest one. They never found the time.

With your details to hand it takes ten to fifteen minutes on your phone. No appointment, nothing to book, and no need to do it in one sitting. Save it and come back when it suits you.

The bigger point is that a legacy plan is not one enormous job. It is a series of small ones, built up as life changes around you. Adding your key contacts takes a couple of minutes. So does uploading an important document.

Most people assume a will costs hundreds of pounds, and for a lot of people that assumption is the only thing standing between them and having one.

Ours is ninety nine pounds, paid once. That includes unlimited changes for the first year, which matters more than it sounds, because most people change their mind at least once while they think it through.

After the first year it is optional. Twenty nine pounds a year keeps it updatable and includes your digital vault and the planning tools.

Most people assume the reason we do not get round to making a will is that nobody likes thinking about their own mortality. Ask people why and that is not what they say. They say it looks complicated. Only about four in ten of us have one.

It is worth saying plainly that it is not. There is no legal language to wade through and nothing you need to understand in advance. It is plain English questions, one at a time, and a real person checks the result is legally valid before it is finished.

Nick and I put this off for years ourselves. That is a good part of why adeus exists, and why it is built the way it is.

The hardest thing about building something like adeus is people don't know what to expect.

We're not just an online will platform...
although ours is great.

We're not just a digital vault...
although ours is as good as those that many of you pay for.

We're a Legacy Planning platform.

But a lot of people don't know what that is, as it's a breaks the mould of what people expect.

Mention wills and people think complex, expensive, inconvenient. We're none of those things.

So I either;

1. Need to get a bit better at explaining why you need a legacy plan, and how quickly and easily you can start to build one with adeus, or...

2. You can check out adeus for yourself; there's no cost to sign up, no credit card needed, just an email address and password.

I'd prefer you did #2 but as I have chosen this soapbox to stand on, as I know how important this is, I'll also be doing a lot of #1 too.
