Cork University Press Selects Focus Advanced Publishing Software©
Focus IT Services Limited is delighted to announce that Cork University Press, has chosen to implement Focus Advanced Publishing Software©, an upgrade from Focus on Publishing Software, to manage its publishing business. Cork University Press has been a Focus user since 2003.
Why Focus Advanced Publishing Software (FAP)?
1. Support is ending for Windows XP
Support for Windows XP is ending on April 8, 2014. If you're running this version after support ends, you won't get security updates for Windows. For more see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/end-support-help.
2. Re-engineered: It is an improved version of “Focus on Publishing software®”product.
3. New Technologies: FAP is written in C # .NET and using the latest Windows technologies, a replacement of the declining, and no-longer supported VB6 programming platform by Microsoft. I can confirm that we will continue to support Focus on Publishing Software, but we will no longer add new features, unless it is custom required by a customer.
4. Auto Document Emailing: Accounting document such as; Invoice, credit note, chase letter and Customer Statement, Purchase Order, payment remittance and Royalty Statement, can now be auto-emailed as PDF, at the point of processing a transaction to the designated email addresses.
5. Report Emailer: Crystal Designed Reports can now be scheduled and delivered by email, as regularly, and to as many recipients as required.
6. CRM: It has a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module, to be launched at the London Book Fair 2013.
7. Production and scheduling module: It now includes Gantt chart, diary system per user, and ability to input time-sheets.
8. Scheduler is now a Windows Service: The will auto-restart when the server restarts.
9. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI): It is now fully automated, with inbox, outbox and scheduling support, and can handle multiple ledger/databases (for trade distributors).
10. Stock Window: Blurbs can be tagged with boldface, italics, underlines, colour and font sizing; and can output to plain text, html or RTF.
11. ONIX 2.1 and 3.0 bibliography format: This only available in FAP, and can be timer-enabled to deliver to FTP folders and/or to named recipients by email.
12. Appeal to Larger Publishing Houses: It is designed to appeal to every size; small to larger publishing houses.
13. Structured Accounting: This product sees the introduction of features relevant to larger publishing houses, such as, structured accounting for tracking sub-offices and departmental costs in their Final Accounts.
14. Digital Age: It is designed to better manage the emerging digital age in the publishing industry, especially how the stock and production modules interact with the digital asset register management module.
15. Compatibility: It maintains 100% compatibility with Focus on Publishing software® database structure, building on its 12-year experience.
16. It offers as standard, a reporting output in the following formats: CSV, MS Excel, PDF, email or printer.
17. Advanced User-search: It introduces a more advanced user-search interface in both the CRM and Marketing modules.
18. Web Interface: Now offers the following extracts to populate your website: author blurb, contributor/author relationship and related titles data.
