Old vines are quietly becoming the best asset in European wine.
Deep roots do more than survive a hot summer. They help vines keep finding moisture when younger plantings start to wobble, which is exactly why replanting isn't a quick fix.
The catch is simple: you can't rush decades of root growth. In a vintage where heat and drought pull in different directions, the oldest sites often have the calmest answers.
