This week, our Women’s Inclusive Network hosted a UK-wide event, bringing colleagues together to hear from Karen Finn, People and Culture Director, Craig Wilson, Deputy CEO, and Priya Gohal, Competitive Intelligence Analyst and Chair of our Young Women’s Community.

The discussion explored key topics raised by colleagues - from learning and development and building confidence, to supporting new mothers in the workplace. The panel also covered initiatives already in place, including mentoring and talent development programmes, while discussing what further change is needed to keep moving the dial.

To close the event, more than 70 colleagues across the UK took part in the Step4Change challenge, walking four miles to raise money for Women’s Refuge, a vital charity supporting women fleeing domestic violence. 💜

We’re proud to partner with The King's Trust Trust to help more young people build meaningful careers in tech.

We worked together on the ‘Get into Tech’ programme, helping young people - particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds - to gain new skills, explore the tech industry, and have a pathway into our Digital Academy, which offers an unconditional role with us, with on-the-job training and minimal barriers to entry.

Since launching in 2023, around 150 talented recruits who are at the beginning of their working life, or are switching careers from other industries and sectors, have joined us through our Digital Academy.

Among the recent 'Get into Tech' graduates are Miira Jeganathan and Sharifa Tucker, both fantastic examples of what’s possible with the right support.

In this article, learn more about the initiative and hear from Miira and Sharifa as they share their journeys, the challenges, how they’re settling into their new roles, and how they’re now giving back as ambassadors for The King’s Trust.

Congratulations to our team on completing the Police Unity Tour 2025 and a huge well done to the 500+ cyclists who took part.

We’re especially proud of our riders – Suzanne Campbell, David Parsons, Rob Dale, and Tim Budd for their commitment to this important cause.

The Tour is much more than a cycling event, it’s a powerful tribute to police officers and staff who made the ultimate sacrifice, and a show of ongoing support for the families helped by Care Of Police Survivors (COPS).

This weekend, our colleagues will join the 13th annual UK Police Unity Tour, cycling in memory of officers who have died in the line of duty and raising vital funds for Care Of Police Survivors (COPS).

David Parsons FCIPD will lead our team of riders as they join the London chapter. “We’re really proud to once again be invited to join the London team. It’s an experience like no other – powerful, emotional, and such a privilege to be riding for the amazing charity that is COPS. Wish us good luck, and good weather!”

We wish the entire team the very best for a safe and enjoyable journey.

Happy International Volunteer Day, everyone!

We're extremely proud of our colleagues who have made a difference this year through a variety of volunteering efforts with our amazing charity partners, and in their own communities. We've provided career advice and workshops to young people from under-represented backgrounds, climbed a mountain to fundraise for vision-impaired ex-Servicemen and women, and rolled up our sleeves to tend to community gardens.

This year alone our people have recorded thousands of volunteering hours, shaping the world for the better. 💙

That’s a wrap for Ignite 2024!

Ignite is one of our talent programmes, aimed at boosting skills and confidence to help our future leaders advance in their careers.

Over the past seven months, participants have been on a journey of self-discovery – testing their abilities and delivering on projects to help solve key business challenges.

In the recent programme finale, those taking part showcased their obvious talent and leadership potential as they presented their insights and recommendations to senior leaders and decision makers. It was a really special day, representative of what makes our organisation so great – our people.

"If you told me a year ago that I had to present to the CEO and other senior leaders, I would have run a mile. But after seven months working with different people across the organisation, pushing myself out of my comfort zone and testing my resilience, I did it! Now I feel really inspired to go on and achieve so much more.” – Beth Cooper, Ignite Graduate 2024.

The wellbeing of our people is a priority for us, which is why we're really proud to be ranked as a UK Best Workplace™ for Wellbeing by Great Place to Work®.

We aim to support our people in all aspects of their wellbeing – through initiatives like our digital health app, financial guidance programmes, and our inclusive employee networks.

“It’s great to be part of an organisation that walks the walk on looking after its people with great initiatives, active employee network groups, and a caring and genuine approach to wellbeing.” Claire, UK Director of Project and Programme Management.

We proudly marched at this year's Bristol Pride 🏳️‍🌈

Joining 25,000 others, members of our LGBTQIA+ Network, PLUS, took to the streets in Bristol to celebrate love, unity and inclusivity and protest the rights for all.

“It’s fantastic that our colleagues have marched again, this time in Bristol Pride. Representing and supporting the communities in which we work and serve is something that really matters to our organisation. And making sure our workforce is as inclusive, as it is diverse, is incredibly important.” - Adrian Fieldhouse, Managing Director (Government and Transport) and Executive Sponsor of the PLUS network.

Together with our charity partner, Blind Veterans UK, a group of our colleagues conquered the Greatest of all Tal Y Fan (GOAT) challenge in Snowdonia National Park, raising £20,000 for the charity.

Around 65 intrepid hikers from Sopra Steria and Blind Veterans UK, including some of the veterans supported by the charity, completed the gruelling challenge with smiling faces, sore feet, and a huge sense of pride.

Hear from our colleagues and Blind Veterans about how important our partnership is and what it means to the veterans.

What a way to kickstart our Pride celebrations! We had the amazing Dame Kelly Holmes share her inspirational journey with nearly 500 of our colleagues across the UK and Europe last week.

We heard about her successes (such as winning two gold medals in the 2004 Olympics!) and her fear of coming out and being her authentic self until recently when she publicly came out in her documentary in 2022.

It’s important to stop unconscious bias and work towards a future where everyone can be their authentic self – which is why we have our growing PLUS Network (LGTBQIA+), that offers a safe space, raises awareness of the challenges in the community and creates allyship.

It doesn’t end there; we have a range of events internally and we’re sponsoring and marching at the Bristol Pride parade in July. 🏳️‍🌈

We’ve been partnering with the amazing From Babies with Love for a year now. In this time, nearly 100 families from across our organisation have received a gift to welcome their new additions. For each gift provided, 100% of the profits have been donated to support orphaned and abandoned children across the world.

Ian, Data Consulting Solution Lead, said “After the birth of our baby boy, we were touched to receive a lovely selection of goodies from Sopra Steria’s partnership with From Babies with Love. We’re now looking at doing our own fundraising for the charities that helped us during the first 24 hours of our little man’s life!”
