In real enterprise networks, MPLS can mean very different things — and choosing between 𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗦 𝗟𝟯𝗩𝗣𝗡 and 𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗦 𝗟𝟮𝗩𝗣𝗡 is not about which one is “better.”

🧩 It is about architecture.

L3VPN is usually the right fit for routed corporate WANs, branch connectivity, managed routing, and scalable IP networks.

L2VPN is often used for data center interconnect, VLAN extension, legacy systems, and scenarios where the customer wants more control over routing.

🔄 And the important part: these services are not mutually exclusive. In many networks, they work together — L3VPN for branches, L2VPN for data centers, Cloud Connect for cloud platforms, and SD-WAN or DIA for internet access and redundancy.

🌐 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓-𝐄𝐔 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝟐𝟔-𝟎𝟑: 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐃𝐨𝐒 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

CERT-EU has published 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝟮𝟲-𝟬𝟯, covering recent cybersecurity incidents affecting European networks. The report highlights continued DDoS activity aimed at disrupting operations, as well as other attempts to destabilize digital services and infrastructure.

A key feature of these incidents is their focus on 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. DDoS campaigns are increasingly used to reduce availability and degrade network performance, often impacting multiple services at once.

🧠 𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗣 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆

Recent activity shows how quickly traffic patterns can change during coordinated DDoS attacks. These attacks may shift between targets and regions, putting pressure on detection speed and network-wide visibility.

At IPTP Networks, we see that effective response depends on early detection of abnormal traffic and the ability to isolate it across distributed infrastructure. This requires continuous monitoring and coordinated mitigation measures at both routing and transit levels.

For customers, the impact is felt directly at the service level. Stability depends on how quickly the network can detect abnormal load and maintain normal traffic flow under pressure. ⚡

🛡️ A classic protection mechanism against parasitic traffic generated by DDoS attacks is a paired 𝗜𝗗𝗦/𝗜𝗣𝗦 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 deployed at both ends of the operator–customer channel.

The customer side analyzes traffic using 𝗗𝗣𝗜 𝗜𝗗𝗦 within its own infrastructure and configures filtering rules on the 𝗜𝗣𝗦 deployed at the operator’s site. This helps eliminate parasitic traffic in the last-mile channel and mitigates attacks targeting services hosted on the customer’s infrastructure.

🔐 𝗣.𝗦. According to security protocols, it is not always possible to place DPI IDS on the operator’s side.

🏗️ Open Compute Project has launched the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗜 initiative — an important signal for the entire digital infrastructure industry.

OCP clearly outlines the scale of the shift: rapid growth in 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, a roadmap toward 𝟭𝗠𝗪 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀, the development of 𝗚𝗪-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗚𝗪 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀, as well as the need for standardized facility-level designs for power, cooling, grid interconnect, telemetry, and operational integration.

This means AI infrastructure can no longer be viewed as a simple extension of a traditional data center. Supporting AI workloads is not just about “adding GPUs.” It requires rethinking the entire physical and network architecture — from grid connection and power distribution to liquid cooling, resilience, monitoring, equipment logistics, and time-to-production.

⚙️ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗣 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀

🧩 The OCP initiative confirms an important shift: an AI-ready data center is not a set of GPU racks, but a complex engineering system where power, cooling, connectivity, and operations must be designed together.

For AI workloads, what matters is not only compute capacity, but the stability of the entire infrastructure environment: power quality, liquid cooling readiness, network design, telemetry, and the speed of bringing a cluster into production.

So the question is no longer whether a site has available kilowatts and space. The real question is whether it can ensure predictable AI cluster operations throughout the full lifecycle — from deployment to scaling and maintenance.
