Miss Marble

Centuries-old tradition, passed down from generation to generation, which captures the moment in which you become one with the paint, the universe & the water.

Since 2014, Ebru has been included in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. Paper marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces. It is often employed as a writing surface for calligraphy, and especially book covers and endpapers in bookbinding and stationery. Part of its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype. If you are interested on learning how to create colourful magic universes, please contact me to learn more about private workshops and classes. During the course you will learn basic patterns of Ebru and experiment with painting on water, marbling papers, marbling sketching and suminagashi. All materials are included.

Συμμετοχικό suminagashi όπου κάτοικοι, καλλιτέχνες και επισκέπτες δημιουργούν μαζί εικόνες πάνω στο νερό, εξερευνώντας τη συνεργασία μέσα από κοινές κινήσεις, χειρονομίες και την αλληλεπίδραση. Η δράση υποστηρίζεται από το Japan Cyprus Friendship Club.

H Χριστίνα,είναι graphic designer και καλλιτέχνης μαρμαρογραφίας με βάση την Κύπρο. Η δουλειά της εστιάζει σε πειραματικές τεχνικές χαρακτικής και εκτύπωσης, ιδιαίτερα στο ebru και το suminagashi, εξερευνώντας τη σχέση υλικού, κίνησης και εικόνας. Παράλληλα, αναπτύσσει έργα που συνδέουν παραδοσιακές τεχνικές με σύγχρονα χωρικά και κοινωνικά πλαίσια.

A participatory suminagashi session where residents, artists and visitors create images together on water, exploring cooperation through shared gestures, movement and interaction. The event is supported by the Japan Cyprus Friendship Club.

Miss Marble

Christina is a graphic designer and marbling artist based in Cyprus. Her work focuses on experimental printmaking, particularly ebru and suminagashi, exploring the relationship between material, gesture and image-making. Alongside my design practice, She develops projects connecting craft-based processes with contemporary spatial and community contexts.
This workshop is supported by the Cyprus-Japan Friendship Association
