To our relatives across Turtle Island,

It's been a hard summer. Fire, smoke and evacuation have touched so much of the land this year, and for many of our communities the weight hasn't lifted with the season.

If you or your community are navigating an evacuation or its aftermath, we've gathered some things that may help, all in one place: emergency support for every province and territory, how to replace a lost or damaged status card, where to start with other lost documents, and support for your mental health when you need someone to talk to.

Sometimes the most important work happens behind the scenes, and this time we caught it on camera. 🎥

26,000 mail-in ballot packages. Prepared, packed, and loaded for Canada Post. 🎉

A number that big deserves to be seen.

This is our Elections and Voting Services team at their absolute best. A mailout this size is no small feat, and it's the kind of scale we take on only once every few years. They rose to it beautifully.

Behind every one of those bins is a voter who gets to take part in their Nation's election. That's the work. That's why it matters.

This July 1st, we're holding space for reflection. 🧡

For many across this land, the day marks a national celebration. For First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples, it carries a more complex weight, inviting us to look honestly at history, at the land we are on, and at the relationships still being repaired.

At OneFeather, we don't look away from that complexity. We hold it. The story of this country did not begin in 1867. It began thousands of years earlier, in the languages, governance systems, ceremonies, and kinship that have always belonged to these territories and continue to thrive today.

Reflection is not the same as standing still. We see this day as an opportunity to learn, to listen, and to keep walking toward something better. Truth comes before reconciliation, and reconciliation is not a single moment but a relationship we tend to every day.

So this July 1st, we invite you to sit with the fuller story. Learn the name of the territory you are on. Seek out Indigenous voices, histories, and teachings. Ask what a shared future grounded in respect and self-determination could look like.

The journey ahead belongs to all of us. We are honoured to walk it alongside the Nations, communities, and people we serve.

Thirty years ago, June 21 was first observed as National Indigenous Peoples Day, yet our peoples have gathered on the summer solstice since long before any calendar named it. The longest day of the year has always been a time of renewal, connection, and celebration.

Today we honour the cultures, languages, and resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We celebrate the brilliance our communities carry forward, the voices that continue to rise, and the strength of Nations exercising their inherent right to determine their own futures. 🧡

We are so proud to celebrate the recipients of the 2026 OneFeather Community Impact Bursary: Sienna S., Mary M., and Talyn B. 🎉

From firefighting to social work to architecture, each of these students is pursuing an education they plan to bring back to the communities that shaped them.

This year we received more than 80 applications, and every story shared with us was inspiring and worthy. To everyone who applied, thank you for trusting us with your journey. We are cheering you on.

We're also celebrating the recipients of OneFeather's SD72 Student Success Bursaries, which were awarded in Campbell River, on June 4.

Pride Month is about love, identity, and the right to live fully as who you are. It is a celebration of who we love and who we are, and of the people who hold space for us to live it fully.

Long before colonization, many Nations held Two-Spirit people in places of honour, respect, and ceremony. This month we celebrate Two-Spirit and 2SLGBTQIA+ peoples across First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, and our settler relatives walking alongside them.
To every 2SLGBTQIA+ person in our communities and beyond: you are loved, you belong, and you are celebrated. 🏳️‍🌈🪶

June marks National Indigenous History Month, and for us at OneFeather, this month carries real significance.

The word "history" can feel like it points backward, but the truth is: our peoples, cultures, languages, and nations are not relics of the past. We are here. We are building. We are governing. We are innovating. History is still being made, every single day, by Indigenous peoples across this land.

This month, we celebrate the full scope of that story, the long past, the present, and everything still to come. This month and every month, we are honoured to stand alongside our peoples, Nations and communities doing this work.

May 14 is Moose Hide Campaign Day, a day of collective commitment to ending violence against women and children across Turtle Island.

Right now, in Canada, the unacceptable is still happening. Nearly half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16. Spousal violence against Indigenous women is three times higher than against non-Indigenous women. These are people deeply loved by their families and communities — and this violence is completely preventable.

In 2011, Paul Lacerte and his daughter Raven were hunting for food along BC's Highway of Tears, a 725-kilometre stretch of road between Prince George and Prince Rupert, where so many women have gone missing or been murdered. Moved to act, they turned the moose hide into small squares to encourage men and boys to stand up against violence towards women and children. That act of love and grief grew into a national movement, with over seven million pins now shared across Canada.

The campaign recognizes that all forms of violence are unacceptable, and that engaging men and boys is essential to ending it. This is a movement for all of us to stand behind.

Every act of solidarity brings us closer to the change we need.
