Grateful for a wonderful afternoon at the Victoria Women Entrepreneurs’ Networking & Resource Exchange!

A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible women entrepreneurs who joined us and helped create such an open, welcoming, and supportive space for connection, learning, and collaboration.

This event was organized by Victoria AI Community and powered by AIVahan International and Outpost Café, bringing together women entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, resources, referrals, and real-world business insights in a relaxed café setting.

A special thank you to Elijah and Josh at Outpost Board Game Café for supporting the event and for providing such a wonderful space for our community to gather and connect.

The conversations today were thoughtful, practical, and incredibly valuable. Together, we discussed topics including:

• Cost per unit calculations
• Business planning and pricing strategies
• Hidden costs, invoicing, GST & PST
• Marketing, pitching, and networking
• How to safely and practically use AI in business processes
• Resource sharing, referrals, and collaboration opportunities

One of the highlights of the afternoon was seeing women actively support one another — from sharing business insights and practical resources to helping an entrepreneur explore opportunities to get into stores.

What made today special was the openness in the room. Women showed up willing to ask questions, share experiences, exchange knowledge, and genuinely support one another in navigating entrepreneurship.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and contributed to such meaningful conversations. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other, build new connections, and strengthen our local women entrepreneurs ecosystem.

There’s something special about seeing people show up, not just physically, but with openness to share, support, and learn from each other.

This weekend’s Victoria Women Entrepreneurs Networking & Resource Exchange organized by the Victoria AI Community and powered by AIVahan International was exactly that.

We had a small but meaningful group of women entrepreneurs, each at different stages in their journey.

Some were building alongside full-time jobs.
Some were just starting and learning how to build.
Some were full-time entrepreneurs.
Some were working full-time and looking to connect with other ambitious women.

No matter what stage they were in, there was something they all had in common - the intention to grow, support each other, and build something meaningful.

What made this even more special was that this was a free, simple gathering, and still, people chose to show up, contribute, and support the space. That means a lot.

Grateful for everyone who came and made the conversations so open and real.

Our last session had 10 spots and filled up, so for the next one, we will be opening up a few more.

COMMON AI IMPLEMENTATION MISTAKES TO AVOID:

• Implementing AI without a defined business objective

• Purchasing tools before auditing workflows

• Ignoring data quality

• Over-automating broken processes

• Scaling before validating ROI

• Failing to assign ownership

• Neglecting governance and risk oversight

Strategic implementation reduces operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Each of these have so much context but if you’re just starting to invest in AI for your business, these are the most common mistakes others make that you want to avoid.

Anthropic rejects Pentagon demand to drop AI safeguards.

Anthropic said Thursday it “cannot in good conscience” comply with a demand from the Pentagon to remove safety precautions from its artificial intelligence model and grant the US military unfettered access to its AI capabilities.

I wanted to introduce myself and share something that might be useful for many of you.

I work with businesses and professionals who want to understand how Artificial Intelligence can actually be used in everyday work.

I’ve spent years working in AI research and engineering, and one thing I’ve learned is that there’s a lot of confusion about what AI can realistically do for businesses. I enjoy helping people make sense of it in practical ways.

Most people I talk to aren’t looking for hype. They just want to know:

• What actually works
• What’s worth the time and investment
• Where to start

So I’ve started sharing practical AI ideas and real-world examples for business - simple, useful things people can actually apply.
