Your people are your first line of defense. But are they ready?

Here are 10 steps to build a cyber-smart team:

• Train your team with interactive, real-world scenarios
• Encourage open communication about threats and concerns
• Test readiness with phishing simulations
• Make it personal by showing employees how security protects them too
• Lead by example from the top down
• Establish clear, easy-to-follow security guidelines
• Tailor training to each employee’s role and responsibilities
• Help everyone understand how their actions affect the whole business
• Make it easy and safe to report suspicious activity
• Recognize and reward employees who take security seriously

If any of these aren't fully in place, it’s time to close the gaps.

We’ve created a free 10-step checklist to help you build a more cyber-aware team. Message us to get your free copy.

Ask your team what they're allowed to put into an AI tool.

If the honest answer is "probably nothing sensitive," that isn't a policy.

It's a hope.

Accounting firms, law firms and financial advisors hold some of the most sensitive information there is. Tax records.

Legal strategy. Investment details.

Personal information about clients and their families.

Meanwhile, AI tools are everywhere. Free chatbots.

Browser extensions. Features quietly added to software you already use.

Staff try them to save time, usually with good intentions.

A short, clear policy closes the gap:
• Which AI tools are approved, on business accounts
• What information must never go in
• What AI is fine to use for
• How to handle AI features built into existing software
• Who to ask when it's unclear

Keep it to one page. Walk the team through it.

Review it every few months as tools change.

Your clients trust you with their information. Your team deserves to know exactly how to protect it.

Does your team know exactly what's allowed?

More traps don’t guarantee you’ll catch the threat.

Cybersecurity tool sprawl is one of the most common and costly mistakes businesses make.

Without the right strategy behind them, additional tools can create more problems than they solve:

• More complexity can create gaps between systems
• Alert fatigue can make real threats easier to miss
• Overlapping software can waste budget without adding protection
• Misconfigured tools can leave vulnerabilities hiding in plain sight

If you’re not confident your security environment is configured to work together effectively, we’re here to help.

Schedule a discovery call today and take a closer look at whether your tools are helping your security or getting in the way.

AI can sound very sure about things that aren't true.

For a law firm or financial advisor, check the source before it reaches a client.

Do you check AI sources before relying on them?

Most businesses are so focused on protecting themselves against outside threats that they overlook the risks already inside.

Insider threats can be deliberate or accidental, and they show up in more ways than many businesses realize:

• Data theft
• Sabotage
• Unauthorized access
• Negligence and human error
• Credential sharing
• Unapproved AI tool use

Recognizing these threats early is the difference between a close call and a costly breach. Message us to see how well your current setup would hold up against an insider threat.

Time.

Confidence.

Not knowing where it fits.

None of those is solved by chasing the latest tool. They're solved with a plan.

Myth: “Cybersecurity support is too expensive.”

While cybersecurity is an investment, the cost of being unprepared is much higher.

Downtime, recovery costs, lost revenue and damaged customer trust can quickly outweigh what it takes to put the right protection in place.

The goal isn’t to spend more on security. It’s to invest in the right support for your business and your risks.

What matters most to you when investing in cybersecurity: cost, coverage or peace of mind? Tell us below.

If a client asked how your firm uses AI, could you show them in writing?

Document the process while you test it.

Your data is valuable. Cybercriminals know it, too.

Like cake at a party, valuable data attracts attention. The difference is that hackers don’t wait to be invited.

A breach can lead to financial loss, reputational damage and consequences that last well beyond the initial incident.

Your data is worth protecting before someone else decides what it’s worth. Drop a 🔐 in the comments to schedule a closer look at your defenses.

Would your backups actually restore if you needed them today?

Not in theory.

In practice.

It's easy to assume yes. The backup software says "successful" every night, so everything must be fine.

Then comes the day you need to recover a file, a mailbox or a whole system, and you find out.

The same thinking applies to Microsoft 365 security, your recovery plan and, increasingly, AI.

Before trusting any of it with something important, you want to see it work. More than once:
• Test a restore of real files, on a schedule
• Walk through what happens if an account is compromised
• Check that security settings match what you told your insurer
• Before trusting AI with a recurring task, watch it get the task right several times and see how it handles an odd case

"Should work" and "we tested it" are very different answers. A client review, an insurance claim or an actual incident will ask for the second one.

Test it before you need it.

When did your firm last test a backup restore?
