Last week Global News confirmed that the 2025 cyberattack on OMS, a vendor for Ontario Health atHome, was ransomware.

The breach happened in April 2025, but it wasn't publicly confirmed as ransomware until nearly a year later. Attackers exfiltrated patient data before any encryption hit.

For GTA small businesses, the practical takeaway is visibility.
