PS5 Overheating / Shutdown Service

Another PS5 through the shop today!

The customer reported that newer games like UFC 6 and Madden were causing the console to get extremely loud and shut down, sometimes before he could even get into the game.

After opening it up, I found dust buildup throughout the cooling system and airflow paths. The console received a full internal cleaning, including the fan, heatsink area, vents and surrounding channels.

✅ Fan running noticeably quieter
✅ 22 minutes of post-clean testing on UFC 6
✅ No overheating or shutdowns during testing
✅ Console cleaned inside and out

I wasn’t able to reproduce the shutdown here, so I also recommended keeping the console in an open, well-ventilated area and making sure the rear exhaust has plenty of room to breathe.

Sometimes a good cleaning and proper airflow can make a huge difference before more expensive repairs are needed.

Nintendo Switch Lite Joystick Replacement

This Switch Lite came in with a left joystick that had seen better days… and by “better days,” I mean the thumbstick was completely gone. 😅

After a careful teardown, the damaged joystick assembly was replaced, the system was cleaned up, reassembled, calibrated and fully tested.

✅ New joystick installed
✅ Full range and centering verified
✅ Control stick calibration passed
✅ System tested before return

Overheating doesn’t always mean dust!

This Xbox Series X was shutting itself down from overheating within minutes of loading into a game. A clogged heatsink or heavy dust buildup would normally be the first suspect—but upon opening it, the console was remarkably clean inside.

The real problem was underneath the heatsink. The thermal paste had uneven coverage across the main processor, preventing heat from transferring properly. Whether caused by the original application, age, or heavy use, it was enough to send temperatures climbing almost immediately.

After a full teardown, removal of the old paste, application of fresh thermal compound, and reassembly, the console passed gameplay testing in both Fortnite and Halo without overheating, shutting down, or excessively ramping up the fan.

Another Xbox Series X brought back to life!

This customer’s Xbox Series X was displaying an overheating warning and shutting itself down during use.

After opening the console, it was clear the cooling system was heavily clogged with dust, especially around the hard-to-reach vents and exhaust.

Work Performed:

- Internal console deep cleaning
- Cooling vents and exhaust cleared
- Fan and disc drive removed and cleaned
- Controller cleaning (Only $20 w/Console)

The before and after photos speak for themselves! Keeping your console clean helps restore airflow, reduce fan noise, and can prevent overheating-related shutdowns.

As a bonus, while cleaning the controller I was able to resolve a sticky trigger and eliminate the stick drift through cleaning alone, saving the customer from needing a replacement controller or additional repairs.

Another gaming PC back up and running properly

This system came in with cooling concerns and instability. After a full internal cleaning, fan replacement, and BIOS update, temperatures were brought under control and the PC completed multiple gaming tests without crashing.

Regular maintenance and proper airflow can make a huge difference in both performance and reliability.

Another Xbox Series X deep clean finished up.

This one had a heavy dust buildup around the fan and internal airflow path. Over time, buildup like this can make a console run hotter, louder, and work harder than it needs to.

Fully opened, dust buildup removed, fan cleaned, airflow path cleared, and reassembled carefully.

If your Xbox, PlayStation, or gaming PC sounds louder than usual, feels hot, or hasn’t been cleaned in a few years, it might be time for a proper cleaning.

This Xbox Series S came in with overheating issues and abnormal fan noise. Once opened up, it was clear the system needed more than a quick surface clean.

This console received the full service:

* Internal dust cleaning
* Heatsink and fan cleaning
* Thermal repaste
* Inspection and testing
* Fan replacement

After the new fan was installed, the difference was immediate. The system ran much quieter, smoother, and passed testing without further overheating issues.

On-site desktop PC cleaning!

I had an out-call the other night for a desktop PC cleaning, and this one had a solid amount of dust built up around the case, rear fan grill, vents, and glass panel.

Dust buildup can restrict airflow, make fans work harder, increase noise, and cause the system to run hotter than it needs to.

This PC was opened up, carefully cleaned, checked over, and left looking much better.
