Meet Gary. You might have already seen him in our videos.

Red toque, blue jacket, 5'2", never without his coffee. Gary learns everything the hard way, so you don't have to.

Don't be Gary: every one of his videos starts with a problem you'll recognize. Scraping ice at −31°C. A $615 ticket for holding his phone. Getting carjacked. Parking in front of a $400,000 supercar.

Be like Gary: then he gets it fixed with something we sell and install at our Markham shop, and that's the end of that problem.

Watch everything Gary added, about 20 seconds each:

Tag the Gary in your life.

How a shock plate stops mice in your engine bay.

Mice climb into the engine bay from underneath, so high-voltage plates go where they get in. A mouse that touches one gets a sharp, non-lethal shock and leaves, and the plate recharges for the next one.

Ultrasound on its own isn't enough, because mice get used to sound. The plates do the real work.

Two ways to run it, both with six plates:
- LDS M186: wires to your 12V, switches off while you drive, and cuts out below about 11.5 V so it won't flatten your battery.
- LDS M229: no wiring at all. Four AA batteries last about a year.

They carjacked Gary. They didn't get far.

Gary's new SUV gets carjacked at a red light. He hands over the keys, because no car is worth a fight. Then he takes out his phone.

SAFEKILL on the StarLine S9 shuts the engine down remotely after a carjacking or theft. One tap in the app sets off 10 seconds of warning lights and sound, then the engine stops once the vehicle slows below 30 km/h, so it never cuts out at highway speed. It won't restart for the thief, and GPS shows exactly where the vehicle is.

Storing a car this winter? Keep the mice out!

A car parked all winter is a warm, quiet home for mice. Three layers keep them out:

1. Capsaicin tape on exposed wiring, hoses and fuel lines.
2. A battery shock-plate unit (LDS M229). Nothing connects to your vehicle's wiring, so it can't drain your battery.
3. An ultrasonic repeller (LDS M640) for the garage. Mice can get used to sound, so make it an extra layer, not your only one.

In spring, before you drive, check the air filter box and cabin air intake too. Tape doesn't stop mice nesting there.

Gary's dash cam has seen things.

Tuesday: a meteor. Wednesday: a runaway wheelchair. Thursday: an ostrich passing him at 85. Friday: a zebra, on the zebra crossing.

Nobody at work believed Gary. Then he played the dash cam footage.

If it happens on the road, it's on camera. See the dash cams Canadians buy most, installed same day at our Markham shop with a lifetime installation warranty:

The tape mice won't chew.

Every fall, mice move into cars and chew the wiring. The repairs are expensive, and the faults come and go, so they're miserable to trace.

Capsaicin rodent tape has the heat from chilli peppers built into the backing. A mouse that bites a wrapped harness gets a mouthful of heat instead of a meal. Unlike sprays, it doesn't wash off. It's the same Japanese-made tape Honda dealers sell as part 4019-2317, and it works on any vehicle.

Wrap harnesses, hoses and fuel lines with 50% overlap. Keep it away from exhaust heat, and wear gloves.

Most relay diagrams feed 12V into pin 30. At rest, 30 is joined to 87a, so the spare 87a lead is live and can short against metal: blown fuse or melted wire. We feed 87 and take the output from 30. Every time.

Draw your own relay wiring diagram free, wired our way, with the fuse and wire sizes and the parts list: https://lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/relay-pin30
