Hi, I’m Sarah, owner and designer of True North Graphic Design.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I live in Cornwall, Ontario, I'm a mom of two wonderful, busy, young children. I have an amazing, supportive husband who completes me, and I have the greatest family and friends a girl could ask for. I love country music, gardening, cooking/baking and being social. OH - and design!
I have always liked computers. I remember designing web pages in HTML back when dial-up was still a thing. Comm-Tech was my favourite class in high school, it was the only class I was excited about. I always knew I wanted a career in computers, I just wasn’t sure where that would take me.
I took a 3-year college course and graduated from St. Lawrence College with an Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology in 2008. However, networking and security weren’t my thing. After graduating I got a job working at The UPS Store in Cornwall, and this is where my love for design began. I was taught design using Adobe software to design anything business and personal related.
In 2011, I moved on to a government career as an IT Support Specialist. It didn’t take long before word got out about my passion for design. I was approached often to design posters, cards, invitations, power points, videos, advertisements, brochures and more. The more I designed, the more I fell in love with it. In 2020, I took a small online Basic Design course where I was able to sharpen some of my skills.
Starting my own design business is not something I ever thought I’d do - I’m not a risk taker. My plan is to approach this slowly. I will do this as a side job, while I continue to work a day job. My hopes are to one day be successful enough to not need a side job, but that takes time, hard work and passion.
Thank you for supporting me on this journey and please think of me when you need something 😊
