Cenovus Energy

Challenge:
Cenovus Energy needed a more effective way to secure and monitor office access. Their existing card swipe system was prone to technical issues and human error, offering little improvement in actual security and incurring ongoing costs for card replacements and maintenance.

Solution:
VizworX developed a custom face and object recognition application using Microsoft Cognitive Services, which was integrated with Microsoft Exchange Server. The system uses real-time camera input to detect faces, identify individuals, and analyze features like age and emotion. Authorized users are granted access automatically—no physical cards required.
To make the system even more dynamic, we incorporated speech recognition. This allows users to interact with the application and trigger predefined tasks via voice commands, enhancing security while improving user experience and operational efficiency.

Results:
Cenovus now has a smarter, cost-effective security solution. The new system minimizes human error, removes the need for access cards, and improves tracking of personnel entering office spaces.
