π©» A radiologist and a general annotator can look at the same CT scan and see completely different things. If it's the general annotator's interpretation that ends up in the training dataset, the model learns accordingly.
Medical image annotation is categorically different from standard computer vision work. The data formats are specialised, DICOM, NIfTI, whole-slide imaging and require tools and clinical metadata handling that general-purpose annotation platforms aren't built for.
The regulatory environment is another important aspect to consider. HIPAA, GDPR Article 9 and FDA documentation requirements all apply to how the data is handled during labeling, not just after.
