🎺 WordPress 7.0 "Armstrong" is here, and it's a big one.

Named after jazz legend Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, this release does something no WordPress version has done before: it brings AI directly into core.

Here's what stood out to us:

🤖 AI, built into WordPress itself — A new AI Client in Core lets WordPress talk to generative AI models, managed from a single Connectors hub. Pair it with the new Abilities API and you've got native automation, content tools, and image generation right inside your site.

🎨 A completely refreshed dashboard — Cleaner design, smooth transitions, and a new Command Palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K) that lets you jump to any tool from anywhere in the admin.

🧩 New blocks + design controls — Gallery lightbox, Breadcrumbs, Icons, and a reworked Heading block, plus device-based responsiveness controls and block-level custom CSS.

🛠️ More for developers — Register blocks and patterns with PHP only, plus a more extensible Site Editor with routing and a new wordpress/boot package.

And as always, it's the community that makes it happen: 875+ contributors, 200+ of them first-timers, delivering 420+ enhancements and fixes. 👏

Last night, our CEO Ivan Popov spoke at WordPress Meetup Plovdiv, hosted at the SiteGround office in Plovdiv.

His session, "AI in WordPress: Who Pays the Bill?", focused on the real-world cost of AI integrations - from API requests and data handling to infrastructure load and scalability. The key takeaway: AI in WordPress is powerful, but only when implemented with a clear understanding of its performance and budget implications.

Experiments plugin so you can play with features without risking production.

The got real upgrades too:
- breadcrumbs finally make a little more sense;
- the HTML block is way nicer to work in;
- the Accordion block is getting polished.
