The first thing I always want to know when I meet a business owner is the story behind how they came to be in business, and why they do what they do.
And it’s not just business owners. If I’m watching a movie, I’m often on IMDB looking up the actors, if I’m at a concert, I’m googling the band at interval, wanting to know their complete back story. (And by the end I’m following everyone including the tambourine player on Insta).
Last week I had the pleasure of attending ’s Day with the Queen - an event I had been waiting 2 years to get to. And boy was it worth the wait! And the stories I heard- from hearing the really interesting story behind a business name and connecting with another bird lover and hearing her amazing story of Zoo Keeper turned Fashion Designer to Sarah from talking about how the stories we tell ourselves impact our money mindset.
So what am I getting at? People connect with stories. Maybe they’re not obsessively sitting on IMDB, but I can guarantee- the more you tell your story through your brand, the more you will stand out, connect with your ideal client, and earn their trust and loyalty.
