Cass Deller Design Studio is a Sunshine Coast design house founded and driven by Cass Deller. Hi, my name is Cass. I am a wife, a mamma, a dreamer and a doer!

Cass is a graphic artist and surface pattern designer specialising in watercolour illustrations. I am optimistic, a risk-taker, a beach lover, and a believer that anything is possible! Originally from Brisbane, I am now call the beautiful Sunshine Coast home. I specialise in the art of abstract watercolour illustrations, textile design & branding solutions for heart-centred businesses. My work is inspired by my laid back Sunshine Coast lifestyle, where my memories are so fondly captured from years of family holidays. All of my work embodies a bright and beautiful aura that I inject into every design and illustration. As a qualified Graphic Designer (and Interior Designer) I have a strong focus on textile design & pattern design. 30m of hand painted fabric for this Sundays epic soulful long lunch with Evoke Experiences with the theme of the event being CREATIVITY 🎨 🎶 🎸🖊️

This project to me hasn’t just been “another thing to paint” it’s been LIFE giving, and to me, that’s what creativity is! It’s dedication, experimentation, bringing something to life - from nothing. It’s following the flow, tuning inwards, less thinking, more feeling.

I’m so excited to see this all come to life - and hopefully it turns out as beautifully as I see it in my head haha! Stay tuned xx

In every lifetime I’ll choose to create in this way. Slowly. Messy. Frustrating. Exhilarating. In a way that allows me to mess up, think differently, follow my gut, explore new ideas that would never had happened if I didn’t embrace the process ✨

Ps- I had a little chuckle when I intuitively edited the reel at this spot in my video and realised I was singing “I’ve been thinking lately everybody’s crazy” - seems a little that way atm 😆😉 x

There’s been a shift in the way brands and artists are working together. Have you noticed it? 👀

For years, most brands would supply some images from Pinterest as part of their brief, but now, artists are receiving fully fleshed-out AI-images of “the vision” and are being asked to recreate the AI artwork, exactly as it’s shown.

I get the temptation, but I’m also seeing the most important part of the collaboration vanish. There’s no more room for creative exploration. There’s no room for the artist’s style.

And this makes me really sad because I speak from personal experience when I say that some of my best work was completely unplanned. I made creative decisions based on my intuition, and pushed the envelope with the brief to see how much better I could make it.

But it’s not just artists who are losing out. Brands lose out too because they’re limiting what’s possible by becoming attached to a vision too early.

Our collab with Halo Bambino is officially live! 🤠👢

And if you read our recent Journal article about the BTS process, you’ll know I painted an excessive amount of boots for this project haha. I just couldn’t bloody stop!

Are there any cowboy boot brands out there looking for some ideas? 😉

This collab with Halo Bambino for their new Country Mile Collection was one of those really fun projects where I completely forgot I was technically “working”. I got into the flow and before you knew it, hours had past and I had pages of gorgeous boot designs.

And it got me thinking...

As artists, we spend so much time trying to work out our style, our niche, our direction, what we should make more of…

Meanwhile your creativity is over there yelling:

BABE. YOU’VE PAINTED 127 BOOTS. MAYBE THIS IS A CLUE.

I love projects like this because they remind me that most of the time the best style direction isn’t something you strategically decide.

It’s the thing you keep coming back to.
The thing you want to keep pushing.
The thing you’re still making long after you technically have enough.

And as I keep telling my students- it’s something you unearth within yourself as opposed to something you force or manufacture.

Thank you Halo Bambino for the opportunity to create for your beautiful brand, and for unlocking a new addiction I’m not 100% sure I’ll shake anytime soon haha.
