Being aware of AI is one thing. Knowing where it actually fits in an advice business is another.

In the latest episode of The WealthTech Insider, Danni Le Grande speaks with Matt Hale, Managing Director of Rising Tide Financial Services, about how the practice has approached AI over several years.

Matt shares how Rising Tide moved from processes that largely lived in his head to a documented advice methodology, with AI now supporting specific parts of the workflow.

That includes file notes, intro-call coaching, implementation, and reviewing advice against the firm’s own philosophy.

In one of our most listened-to podcast episodes of 2025, this conversation with Simon Betchley explores how high-performing advice firms truly understand their numbers, beyond basic fee consent requirements.

That is, revenue by client 👉 by adviser 👉 by product 👉 by referral source.

And, critically, spotting payment anomalies before they become problems.

Simon explains why many firms stop too early in their analysis, and how deeper visibility unlocks better decisions, stronger accountability, and sustainable growth.

If revenue still feels a little opaque, this episode offers a practical lens on where clarity really starts.

The best digital advice experiences often aren't determined by the technology behind them, but by how easy they make it for people to get things done.

From member engagement and data collection through to advice delivery and implementation, every step should be designed to reduce friction for both clients and staff.

When the journey works seamlessly, organisations can improve efficiency, deliver a better experience, and create a stronger foundation for growth.

That's where meaningful transformation happens.

Six months ago, Danni Le Grande and Peter Worn made eight big predictions about where WealthTech was heading in 2026.

So, how are they tracking?

In the latest episode of The WealthTech Insider, they revisit all eight - no cherry-picking - to see what's played out as expected and which predictions might have missed the mark.

The conversation covers everything from AI governance and platform consolidation to digital advice, managed accounts, SaaS pricing and the rapid rise of AI-first technology.

Technology projects will usually succeed or fail long before the system goes live.

As Danni explains, the difference can come down to empathy just as much as strategy - success often follows when people feel heard, supported, and confident enough to embrace change.

'I think empathy sits at the centre of how I work...I’m really driven by that desire to help and to simplify the hard bits where possible.'
- Danni Le Grande, Partner and Head of IFA Consulting, Finura Group

What happens when you give AI agents too much freedom? Chaos - and a cautionary tale.

In a real experiment, journalist Evan Ratliff launched an unusual startup, setting up AI agents to act like co-workers, giving them access to internal messaging...and things quickly went pear-shaped.

The agents argued with each other, pushed back, and started questioning direction.

According to Peter Worn, this experiment serves as a cautionary tale against treating AI like a colleague. Instead, it can really benefit from clear permissions, narrow jobs, and a human checking the output before it touches clients.

'A lot of the training of AI agents is as much about telling them what not to do as what to do, which is probably a little different to how you would treat a human employee.'
- Peter Worn, Joint Managing Director, Finura Group

The goal isn't to make AI feel human - but to make it reliable. And without the right controls in place, AI can create as many problems as it solves.

The future of AI pricing is becoming one of the biggest questions facing businesses.

The recent revelation that Microsoft will be passing on token costs for its release of 'Cowork' has many CFOs asking the same question...

What will AI actually cost over the long term?

In our experience, it's good to start by understanding the tools you're using, reviewing your vendor agreements, and working with people who stay close to how the AI market is evolving.

If AI pricing is already a conversation in your organisation, tag the colleague you're navigating it with.

AI is not traditional software - so treating it like it is creates risk.

In this Tangelo x Finura webinar, Peter Worn breaks down why AI outputs are probabilistic, not deterministic, and what that means for advice firms trying to implement AI responsibly.

'...(AI) is going to give you what it feels is the most likely correct response - not the right response.'
