Helping Indigenous Communities Manage Visitor Access to Country

Across Australia, many Indigenous organisations manage visitor access to culturally significant land.

This often includes:

• visitor permits
• camping access
• accommodation bookings
• cultural tourism experiences.

For many communities, these processes are still handled through phone calls, emails, or paper permits.

But there is a simpler way.

I presented at a recent Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference about how online booking and permit systems can help Indigenous organisations maintain control over visitor access to Country while reducing administration.

We've now updated that article, including examples of communities already using online systems to manage permits and camping bookings.
