Managing a website is rarely someone’s only job.

In many not-for-profits and organisations with lean teams, the person updating the website may also be organising events, writing newsletters, managing communications and keeping stakeholders informed.

When the CMS is difficult to use, even a small website update can take far longer than it should.

At OSKY, we believe a good content management system should make everyday website tasks easier, not add more friction.

Updating a page, publishing an article or changing an event should feel straightforward and intuitive, so your team can make the change and get on with the rest of their day.

If your team is wrestling with an awkward CMS or spending too much time on routine website updates, there may be a simpler way.

What goes into delivering a serious digital product?

Usually, much more than what you see on the screen.

When organisations turn to OSKY to build a website, web application or mobile app, our work starts with understanding the organisation, its users and what the product actually needs to achieve.

From there comes UX, design, technical architecture and development.

Behind the scenes is another layer entirely: version control, code review, development and staging environments, automated deployments, infrastructure management, testing, security checks and monitoring.

Our teams work with technologies including Git, GitHub, Docker, AWS, Cloudflare, Laravel Forge, n8n and Netdata.

For projects requiring additional assurance, we can introduce further layers of code quality, security, testing and observability using tools such as SonarQube, Datadog, DeepSource, Dependabot, Snyk and TestMonitor.

The exact tools depend on the project.

The principles do not.

The goal is to build digital products that are reliable, secure, maintainable and ready to evolve with the organisation behind them.

We’ve taken a look behind the scenes at how OSKY approaches professional digital delivery in our latest article:

⏰ Applications close this Wednesday, 28 October.

There’s still time to apply for the OSKY 2026 Digital Impact Sponsorship, with $10,000 in in-kind digital support available across three opportunities for ACFID member organisations:

• 1 × $5,000 Impact Sponsorship

That is exactly what this sponsorship is designed to help with.

You do not need to have the solution worked out before you apply. Tell us about the challenge your organisation is facing, what you would like to improve, and what a better outcome would look like.

You may have seen reports today about two critical security vulnerabilities affecting PHP.

If you’re not familiar with PHP, it is one of the core technologies behind a huge proportion of the web. Around 7 in 10 websites where the server-side technology is known use PHP, including many websites built on platforms such as WordPress and Drupal.

That is why a serious PHP vulnerability can potentially affect a very large number of websites.

The vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, could allow an unauthorised attacker to execute code on an affected server.

Official security updates have now been released, and affected environments should be updated as soon as possible.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗢𝗦𝗞𝗬 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴
Our technical team has been actively responding since details of the vulnerabilities became public.

We are applying the official PHP security updates across affected OSKY-managed environments and have implemented recommended mitigation measures while that work continues.

We are continuing to monitor affected environments and prioritising remediation until the work is complete.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗦𝗞𝗬 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲.

This is exactly the type of proactive maintenance, security monitoring and technical oversight that OSKY Care is designed to provide.

When issues like this emerge, our team assesses the impact, applies the appropriate security response and manages the technical work on your behalf.

For OSKY Care clients, the goal is simple: you should not need to monitor security advisories or work out whether your website needs urgent attention. That is what our team is here to manage.

If your website is not currently covered by OSKY Care, now is a good time to make sure your environment has been reviewed.

Request a website security assessment from OSKY and we can check whether your site may be affected, identify any immediate action required, and advise on the right ongoing support for your website.

The most expensive feature could be the one nobody needs.

A new dashboard. A custom integration. An advanced reporting tool.

Each adds more than development cost. It also needs testing, maintenance and ongoing support.

Before adding it to the project scope, ask: What problem does it solve, and for whom?

At OSKY, business analysis and discovery help organisations understand user needs, test assumptions and prioritise where their digital budget will make the biggest difference.

That means clearer decisions about what to build, what to simplify and what to leave out.

One of Canberra’s favourite spring evenings is returning on 24 October.

The Canberra Nara Candle Festival is coming back to Canberra Nara Peace Park in Lennox Gardens, celebrating the longstanding sister-city friendship between Canberra and Nara, Japan.

As the sun sets over Lake Burley Griffin, thousands of candles illuminate the park alongside traditional performances, Japanese food and cultural activities.

It’s a beautiful celebration of friendship, culture and community, and one of those uniquely Canberra events that reminds us why we love calling this city home.

If you’re heading along this year, we hope you enjoy a peaceful evening by the lake.
