As we have closed the difficult year 2020, we have a verse from the scriptures we would like to dedicate to the founders of Royal Secrets brand.

KJV Acts 20
35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

We can't thank you enough for what you have done for us and the albinism community at large. The sunscreen lotions which are a necessity to us with albinism. Talking of sunhats to prevent us from being affected by the sunlight uv rays and the food humpers, we are so grateful.

Many many thanks to you and may you be blessed more and more.

Gender-based violence can have a severe impact on the physical health and growth and developmental of the child. The psychological impact of abuse (or witnessing abuse) can adversely affect mental health and wellbeing and impair bonding and attachment between parent and a child.

However, although children living in abusive environments have a higher risk of developing behavioural, cognitive and emotional problems, this is not inevitable. There is a wide variation in children’s responses – some exhibit no more problems than their peers, whilst for others multiple levels of difficulty may arise which may require clinical intervention. The impact of abuse is mediated by a range of factors such as the nature, frequency and severity of the abuse, and the extent to which the child is exposed to it. Other stressors within the family such as parental mental health problems, substance misuse, homelessness etc can also exacerbate the impact. Conversely, protective factors such as wider family support, a strong relationship with their mother, and their own coping skills can help the child develop resilience to mitigate the damage caused by the abuse.

This is something that has to stop once and for all for the good of ourselves and the future of tomorrow.

Statistics reveal that most mothers who have children with the albiinism condition are single. It is not because their husbands are late or what but because of the condition of the child. This trend is still in rapid growth and future mothers fear the day they may be in the situation of having a child with albiinism, they become single.

Fathers, man, boys, are you happy with this portrayal of you. So cold hearted and living in darkness in light of the wrong societal myths.

Your child has a big fight in the world more than you will have. Don't make it worse for him or her.

Current fathers and future fathers, it is your duty to protect your child as well as the whole family. Remember that as the sun rises and as it sets.
There is a blessing for that.

Coronavirus and Albinism

There have been many medical opinions around the issue of coronavirus, with some saying that it affects people with less melanin, which includes people with Albinism. Coronavirus does not discriminate it can affect anyone regardless of their race, colour and ethnic group.

A lot of stories have been written stating that corona affects people with Albinism as well as white people only. Various studies have been made to support this assumption but none of them holds water as some studies show that animals with melanin are not getting the virus while those without melanin are getting the virus. We most definitely cannot base animal results to determine human results.

Kertscher (2020) says these studies that state that coronavirus affects people with less or no melanin are invalid. This is because one of the studies that support this assumption was made on animals and the other one only one individual managed to recover from the virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who comes into close contact with someone infected with the coronavirus is at risk for contracting it. This means regardless of their colour or skin anyone who comes in contact with an infected person is at risk of being infected with corona.

According to CNN, more than 100,000 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the world and more than 4,000 people worldwide have died. The spread of coronavirus has led to the suspension of many trips abroad with Donald Trump suspending any travels to the United States of America (USA) from Europe for the next 30 days.

Let’s all fight against corona by ensuring that we take the necessary precautions. These are:
• Regularly and thoroughly washing our hands.
• Staying at least three feet away from people with the virus.

Children with Albinisim have short eyesight because of the lack of pigmentation in their eyes and at times a refractory error which makes it worse. The amount of light that the eyes are exposed to should be controlled, not too much not too little. Reading and studying with inadequate light and without spectacles is a mammoth task and often to poor grades and loss of interest in books and school. Make sure your child has spectacles and has enough light so that studying becomes easier

Even for older children and adults with albinism, it is important not to rely on sunscreens, and to limit exposure to the sun. Most ultraviolet rays come between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Standard Time, or 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Daylight Savings Time. Planning outdoor activities for morning or evening is the single most important measure for people with albinism to avoid sun damage. Please stay safe.
