GETAWAY TO EAST AFRICA BORDER NEEDS ARGENT ATTENTION TO BE SCRUTINIZED.
This is worrying hearing our One Stop Border Post OSBP being posted in ways that is not promoting our integrity.
Initially this year month back Chete FM - Nakonde 89.9FM, Chinsali 91.3FM posted something concerning drivers or motorists are not following the rules when crossing the custom from the other side they are usually roads which reads to whichever direction you are going and if you are going the other side you are supposed to use, but it's not like that people would use any lane.
When Chete FM - Nakonde 89.9FM, Chinsali 91.3FM tried to do some secret investigation they find out "in their post" that drivers usually pays the security guards to allow them break law of trespass in wrong lane.
This trespass has not stopped till now personally last week I encountered one not that I saw bribing but just saw motorists using wrong lane.
Now today a Kenyan passport holder complains of poor services encountered at our beautiful OSBP.
"As a Kenyan passport holder, one of the hardest borders to cross in Africa is the Tunduma–Nakonde border between Tanzania and Zambia.
Kenyans do not need a visa to enter Zambia, but some border officials do not seem to care. Instead, they look for ways to get money from travellers.
In my case, officials demanded a $100 bribe before allowing me to proceed. Many travellers would be shocked by such a demand, especially when the money is going into an officer's pocket rather than government coffers.
What surprised me most is that even in some African countries where Kenyans need a visa, the official visa fees are lower than the amount being demanded unofficially at this border.
I was also surprised that even some Tanzanian officials responsible for stamping passports on exit wanted a small payment. Maajabu.
At this border, it often feels like almost everyone, including money changers, is trying to get something from you." write.
Now we are calling relevant authorities to come on board and help sort out this matter this is not the legacy we have built and we expect to see the great things rather than this. We are the
