GETAWAY TO EAST AFRICA BORDER NEEDS ARGENT ATTENTION TO BE SCRUTINIZED.

This is worrying hearing our One Stop Border Post OSBP being posted in ways that is not promoting our integrity.

Initially this year month back Chete FM - Nakonde 89.9FM, Chinsali 91.3FM posted something concerning drivers or motorists are not following the rules when crossing the custom from the other side they are usually roads which reads to whichever direction you are going and if you are going the other side you are supposed to use, but it's not like that people would use any lane.

When Chete FM - Nakonde 89.9FM, Chinsali 91.3FM tried to do some secret investigation they find out "in their post" that drivers usually pays the security guards to allow them break law of trespass in wrong lane.

This trespass has not stopped till now personally last week I encountered one not that I saw bribing but just saw motorists using wrong lane.

Now today a Kenyan passport holder complains of poor services encountered at our beautiful OSBP.

"As a Kenyan passport holder, one of the hardest borders to cross in Africa is the Tunduma–Nakonde border between Tanzania and Zambia.

Kenyans do not need a visa to enter Zambia, but some border officials do not seem to care. Instead, they look for ways to get money from travellers.

In my case, officials demanded a $100 bribe before allowing me to proceed. Many travellers would be shocked by such a demand, especially when the money is going into an officer's pocket rather than government coffers.

What surprised me most is that even in some African countries where Kenyans need a visa, the official visa fees are lower than the amount being demanded unofficially at this border.

I was also surprised that even some Tanzanian officials responsible for stamping passports on exit wanted a small payment. Maajabu.

At this border, it often feels like almost everyone, including money changers, is trying to get something from you." write.

Now we are calling relevant authorities to come on board and help sort out this matter this is not the legacy we have built and we expect to see the great things rather than this. We are the

The Ngoni Royal Establishment has condemned the manner in which the Bemba mourners conducted the tribal cousinship with the Easterners at Ephendukeni Palace during the arrival of the mortal remains of the late Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV.

Speaking to the media, Ngoni Royal Establishment representative Chief Madzimawe expressed sadness over how the Bembas have lost their traditions and customs.

The traditional leader said he was unhappy with the Bembas for blocking the Ngoni leadership from entering the mourning house, including Paramount Chief Mberwa of Malawi, who is second in rank to the late Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV and was traditionally supposed to receive his remains.

The Ngoni Royal Establishment, has since urged the Bembas to consult on how traditional cousinship should be conducted with respect and in an orderly manner, without shaming themselves.

Mpezeni's Death Robs Chief Waitwika of a Brother Months After Historic Bond

By Christabel Chulu

Chieftainess Waitwika of the Namwanga people if Nakonde says the death of Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV has left her deeply saddened, describing the Ngoni leader as a wise king, a heritage carrier and a brother whose friendship had only recently been cemented through a historic reunion of two peoples linked by nearly two centuries of shared history.

Speaking during a press briefing at her palace on Tuesday after officially receiving notice of the traditional leader's death from the Ngoni Royal Establishment, Chieftainess Waitwika has reflected on the special relationship she developed with Mpezeni IV in the final months of his life.

"He became my brother," she said, recalling the words the Ngoni king spoke when he visited her palace in Nakonde on February 18 this year.

The bond between the two leaders emerged from discussions surrounding the final resting place of King Zwangendaba Jere, the founding Ngoni king whose grave lies in Nachipeta Village along the Nakonde-Mbala Road.

King Zwangendaba fled present-day South Africa with his followers in the early 1830s during the Mfecane wars before leading one of Africa's most remarkable migrations across southern and central Africa.

He crossed the Zambezi River into present-day Zambia in November 1835 and died in 1848 before reaching his intended destination further north.

He was buried in what is now Nachipeta village, located along the Nakonde-Mbala road about 30 kilometres west of Nakonde CBD in Nakonde District.

For generations, the Namwanga people of Nakonde have safeguarded and preserved the gravesite.

Chieftainess Waitwika reveales that in January this year, emissaries from Mpezeni IV approached her seeking guidance on whether the remains of King Zwangendaba could be exhumed and taken to the Ngoni kingdom in Eastern Province.

However, she advised against the move, arguing that nearly 180 years had passed since

IBA Dismisses Claims of Political Song Ban

By Arnold Tutu

The Independent Broadcasting Authority –IBA- has dismissed claims circulating on social media that it has banned political campaign songs, saying the Authority has no legal mandate to prohibit music in Zambia.

IBA Director General WEBSTER MALIDO says the Authority has only issued guidance to broadcasting stations on the airing of election-related content in line with its regulatory role.

In a statement to ZNBC news, Mr. MALIDO said the guidance covers political campaign songs, advertisements and other election content carried by radio and television stations to ensure compliance with broadcasting standards and existing regulations.

He said broadcasters have been reminded of their obligation to ensure that campaign songs and political messages aired on their platforms do not promote hatred, division or hostility among citizens.

Mr. MALIDO said stations are also expected to avoid content containing inflammatory statements or unverified allegations and instead support responsible, issue-based political discourse during the election period.

"The IBA has no jurisdiction to ban songs in Zambia," Mr. MALIDO said.

He said the Authority routinely engages broadcasters on compliance issues to ensure that election-related content adheres to the Election Coverage Guidelines and established broadcasting standards.

Mr. MALIDO said the guidance forms part of efforts to promote peaceful, fair and credible elections through responsible broadcasting practices.

He said the Authority will continue working with broadcasters across the country to foster a conducive media environment and encourage constructive electoral discourse ahead of the polls.

The clarification follows reports on social media alleging that the broadcasting regulator had prohibited the playing of political campaign songs on radio and television stations.
