To configure your router for cable internet connection with Smart Wizard:

1. Connect your modem to the internet port of the NETGEAR router and your computer to any of the four LAN ports.

Image
2. Switch the computer, router, and broadband/cable modem, off and on again. Wait for them all to finish booting up.
3. Open a web browser and type the router's IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
You are prompted to log into the router.
The default username is admin and the default password is password.
The username and password are case-sensitive.
If the default username and password is not working, you might have changed the password. Please try other passwords that you might have changed to. Otherwise, a factory reset is needed to restore the router to factory defaults. To perform a factory reset, see Restoring a NETGEAR home router to the factory default settings.
4. Click Setup Wizard.
5. The Setup Wizard screen displays.
Select Yes and click Next.

Image
6. The Setup Wizard detects the type of internet connection. For cable internet connections, the Setup Wizard detects Dynamic IP.
7. Click Next. The router saves the settings.

Image
Note: Do not change the default settings unless your internet service provider gave you specific DNS information that must be configured.

(Optional) To check if you are connected to the internet, select Router Status under Maintenance.

Image

Look at the IP Address field to see if you have a valid IP address (that is, not blank or filled with zeroes, such as 0.0.0.0).

Technology, which basically refers to bringing together tools that ease creation, use and exchange of information, has a major goal of making tasks easier to execute as well as solving many mankind’s problems. As technology continues to advance and direct evenmore easiness in our lives, there is a need to stress how advantageous it has been to our lives. One of the areas that technology has been of great use is the health industry. Modern electronic equipments have been discovered which have improved the quality of treatment people receive at the health institutions as well as increasing their survival chances from various ailments. Another notable benefit of technology is that it have enabled doctors to discover most health problems while they are still in the developing stages, and have treated them before they can develop into severe stages.Communication across the globe is now easy. This is due to the inventionand use of internet which have reduced the world into a global village. People hailing from different geographical regions can virtually communicate through video calls, e-mails as well as many social media platforms available. Business owners have realized the power of using internet to achieve more customers for their products easily by creating business websites where customers click on the items to buy them at the comfort of their homes.Another importance of technology in our daily lives is that it has eliminated the bulkiness associated with paperwork. With technology, information can now be stored virtually in various storage devices such as compact disks and microchips.More so, the information stored in these technological devices is securedwith passwords and codes which are only known by the proprietors of the information, making it a better way of storing confidential information.Telephone has evolved over the decades in terms of technology as thescientists have realized the need for people to communicate at anytime, anywhere. This necessity has led to invention of highly portable cellular phones which have taken communication a notch higher as people can network easily. The deviceis also fun to use as they are coupled with extraordinary entertainment features such as games. While a washing machine came third on a list of 30 products which have changed our lives, broadband came first and the internet second. Email was fourth...one place ahead of the freezer. The toaster was way down at 20th, behind satellite TV, the iPhone, satnav and Facebook. The study of 2,000 adults found six in 10 feel they are slow to get the latest technology and a third will only buy replacement items if the old ones are broken. Many of us “upgrade” a partner more often than we change appliances. Nearlya third of those questioned had a fridge, toaster or washing machine that had outlasted several relationships. But getting the first dishwasher and switching to an electric toothbrush are among our life-changing moments. The research was conducted by Hotpoint to mark the launch of its Home IQ campaign which aims to suggest ways to use technology to make our households more efficient. It found the average home has three major appliances that are currently broken or only partly functioning. Just 16 per cent could say they felt theirhome was “up to date”.

Computer Problems and PC ErrorsEvery PC user has a computer problem now and then. Even the most stable, secure machine is not safe from buggy software, failing hardware, or even the occasional loose wire. PC problems can be a huge headache, bringing productivity to a halt and potentially costing you money. Here are some of themost common computer problems, and their possible causes. The Computer Won't Turn OnThis can be a computer user's worst nightmare. You hit the power button and nothing happens. Any number of things can cause this computer problem —it may be something as simple as a loose cord, or as serious as a dead power supply.Another common PC problem is when the computer turns on and the fan and lights come on, but the machine doesn't boot, or shows a blank screen. This could be anything from a dead (or unplugged) monitor to a dead hard drive or corrupted boot sector.Lockups and FreezesThe infamous "blue screen of death" has frustrated many a user, as it brings thecomputer to a halt and displays an error message that'sutterly indecipherable to most computer users. Lockups can be caused by any number of issues — sometimes it's buggysoftware, or a system running out of memory.Sometimes it's a bad hardware driver causing the issue. More seriously, it can be a sign of overheating, RAM going bad, or the hard drive failing. Components get loose inside the machine and can alsocause computer errors, sudden lockups, or even spontaneous shutdowns.Slow PerformanceWhen you delete files and applications from the computer, all kinds of junk can get left behind. Useless files and data can accumulateand degrade system performance. Ironically, antivirus and anti-malware software, while vitalto the health of a computer, canslow down a PC's performance. Low hard drive space or not enough RAM in the machine can alsocause computer errors and slow down the machine.Strange NoisesIs your machine making a strange whirring noise? It might be a fan dying.Computers accumulate dust over time, and when fans get clogged, they can slow down, decreasing their effectiveness and making an unpleasant grinding sound.Another common computer problem is the dreaded "click" of a dying hard drive— one of the most potentially destructive PC problems there is. If you hear a rapid clicking or clunking noise inside your computer, it's best to get a backup plan in place, if you don't already have one — chances are your hard drive is close todying and taking all your valuable data with it. Then again, it may be a loose component or screw inside the machine. Either way, don't ignore it.OverheatingDying fans, poor ventilation, or even heavy use can create computer problems as the PC heats up. Most computers are designed to shut down when things get too hot, as a precaution against permanent hardware damage, but it can be pretty alarming when a machine just switches off seemingly out of nowhere.Overheating can cause all sorts of other computer problems. Overheating can cause mouse glitches, strange performance in software, or lockups, while an overheating video card can cause the display to momentarily fail
