He Fed a Poor Crippled Beggar Every Day | Until He Said "I’m a Billionaire"
Chapter 1: The Kindness of Joshua
In the small Kenyan village of Kitali, nestled under the shadow of rolling hills, 22-year-old Joshua ran a modest food stall by the dusty main road. His stall, a patchwork of wooden planks and faded tarpaulin, stood beneath a sprawling acacia tree. The scent of ugali, sukuma wiki, and roasted maize filled the air as villagers gathered to eat. Joshua’s clothes were threadbare, his sandals cracked from years of use, but his warm smile never faltered. “Jambo! Welcome!” he’d call out, greeting each customer with genuine warmth.
Joshua had little to call his own. Orphaned at a young age, he lived in a single-room mud hut with a tin roof, no electricity, and a small kerosene lamp for light. He woke before dawn to prepare meals, his hands calloused from grinding maize and chopping vegetables. Despite his struggles, Joshua’s heart was full. He often gave food to those who couldn’t pay, saying, “A full stomach brings hope.”
One day, his friend Wambui, who sold fruits nearby, teased him. “Joshua, why do you give away your food? You’re as poor as the rest of us!” Joshua chuckled, stirring a pot of steaming ugali. “Wambui, a smile from a hungry person is worth more than a coin.” Wambui shook her head, laughing, but his words lingered in her mind.
