Today marks a major milestone as the Public Health Security Information Management System (PHSIMS) is officially launched.
For close to a year, ISWE Solutions Limited, as the system developer, has worked alongside the Zambia National Public Health Institute and other stakeholders to design, develop and implement this important national platform.
PHSIMS brings together data from multiple One Health sectors—including human health, animal health, laboratory, climate and environmental sources—into an integrated public health data lakehouse. This provides a strong foundation for consolidated surveillance, advanced analytics, timely reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
With the data lakehouse now established, several data products have already been developed, including specialised dashboards, automated analytical outputs, anomaly-detection capabilities, forecasting tools and decision-support products. Work is continuing to refine these products, develop additional use cases and ensure that integrated data is converted into practical intelligence for public health programmes and decision-makers.
The platform has been designed not only to integrate data, but also to help public health teams identify emerging threats earlier, understand patterns across sectors and respond with greater speed and precision.
This launch represents the culmination of extensive system development, data integration, harmonisation, validation, training and collaboration. It also marks the beginning of the next phase—expanding data sources, strengthening existing data products and building new intelligence capabilities that deliver measurable value to Zambia’s public health system.
We are proud of the contribution made by the ISWE Solutions team and grateful to the ZNPHI team, government institutions, technical partners and all stakeholders who supported this journey.
From fragmented data to an integrated lakehouse—and from integrated data to actionable public health intelligence.
