The Health Campaign Effectiveness Coalition is doing important work to broaden how we think about “campaign success.”

Their new Framework for Measuring Health Campaign Effectiveness looks beyond coverage alone, incorporating measures of access, acceptance, efficiency, and equity. That framing strongly reflects what we have learned through years of developing and deploying Reveal.

Digital campaign tools should do more than count activities. Reveal helps campaign teams understand who has been reached, who may have been missed, where gaps are occurring, and where teams and resources need to be redirected. By connecting geospatial microplanning with field-level implementation and near real-time monitoring, it gives programs much greater visibility into whether a campaign is actually succeeding across the populations it is intended to serve.

Digital health has never been about technology for technology’s sake.

A recent multi-country study spanning 28 countries reinforces an important lesson: digital tools deliver the greatest value when they strengthen health systems, improve decision-making, and fit seamlessly into the way programs already operate.

At Akros, we’ve seen this firsthand. Whether supporting malaria elimination, immunization, neglected tropical disease programs, or disease surveillance, technology is most effective when it helps programs answer simple but critical questions:

Somalia and Djibouti have taken an important step by establishing national pharmacovigilance systems—giving healthcare workers and regulators the tools to detect adverse drug reactions, identify substandard or falsified medicines, and respond quickly to emerging safety concerns.

We’re excited to see Zimbabwe’s reported WHO Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT) Maturity Level 4 assessment results, which will be audited soon for final validation. If confirmed, Zimbabwe would become the first country in Africa and only the fourth globally to reach this important milestone.

Akros is proud to have supported this journey through the Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) programme, in partnership with Africa CDC and the Mastercard Foundation. The programme supported MCAZ at multiple levels to help:

• Rollout a new electronic reporting system
• Revitalize district-level Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) committees.
• Train 100 community health workers to identify and report AEFIs, strengthening surveillance beyond health facilities.
• Enhance public-facing communications, increasing transparency, and expanding access to pharmacovigilance resources.

This milestone, even if it's not confirmed, reflects the continued dedication of Zimbabwe’s regulatory authorities and partners to build stronger, more resilient health systems. We look forward to the outcome of the final review and congratulate everyone involved in reaching this stage.
