What is being a believer many christians suffer in this area, quite sad if you ask me. Here is a story the wise among you will understand, some will see it as an attack but its not.
John was a very faithful believer of Christ and God's ability to keep him from harm and provide for him all he needed, infact John was so imbued with faith that, you could say he was the proverbial believer with faith more than that of a mustard seed.
It so happened that a time came, when area John lived in had very heavy rains. Reports came in of a flood because of the water logged nature of the area, and Government started evacuating area with various vehicles aerial and ground alike.
First offer John got to get him out of the area was from a neighbour who had a vehicle, he offered to take John with his family safely out of the area. John with so much faith and emphasis said no my brother thanks for your offer but the God I serve will not let me drown or let any harm to me, He will surely save me, if I die today then it was meant to be.
Second offer came to John from the town fisherman, this time water level was on his knees, fisherman with his canoe offered to take John safely to higher dry ground. John like he had told his neighbour cemented his faith in a miracle, since God he served was a God of miracles that never slept.
Third offer came at a time one would call John's last chance at redemption, water levels were neck level. A relief helicopter dropped ladder for him to hang on and get pulled to safety, and like a faithful believer John was, he did not get hold of that ladder, he just further cemented his faith more.
Well friends, thanks for reading this far but this story doesnt have a happy ending sadly because John drowned. Did the God he believed in so much fail him? No, He did not, God was there with him the whole time, through John's neighbour, fisherman and relief worker. Sometimes as believers we lose sight of other areas of scripture as we recite others, yes, he who has the faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain(John's faith moved God so much, God tried saving a stubborn guy 3 time).
1.God will work through people, sure dont expect because you have faith He will manifest His presence to pull you up(give you money for those that just sleep but pray for God to help them with their finances).
2. God works in mysterious ways and at His time, dont expect His help to manifest in the way you fantasized(you are stranded, need transport, you pray for a car but only a bicycle offers help)
3.Listen to that inner voice He gave you, its called a conscious, if He tells you to jump off a building believe He will catch you or bless you with flight. John knew those 3 offers would save him but then he felt if he took that help then his faith was just not strong enough, that mistake cost him his life.
4. God is not your girl or boyfriend to say if He doesnt intervene in the manner I wanted then it was meant to be(the way you would say if it doesnt work with him or her then it just wasnt meant to be), He works at His own time and in His own ways, John thought God was serving him and not vice versa.
So faithful believers, let us not be fools and lose direction of the potential God has blessed all of us with, to survive and thrive waiting on that one miracle we fantasize about in our heads to say when God's blessings rain upon me, it will be in this manner.
Also always trust God has your best interests at heart, it might not be what you want but be sure its for your own good.
Women, your dream is to marry a rich guy with 10 cars, but all you have is a simple but very committed to your happiness and relationship's success guy that makes you unhappy, you consider that a curse and God not loving you. Thats you being foolish, why do we always attribute blessings to what we want and wealth? God is not Santa, there is a reason He knew you before you were born, with you in good and bad times, in light and dark and not just on Christmas if you were a good person.
Same goes for men, you have a job as a cleaner, but then pastor makes you believe that is not your portion, did God appoint that pastor to decide who gets what? We all have a role to play, if we are all lawyers, who will be a doctor, if we are all doctors who will be a cab driver. Even in the Bible we had shepards, kings, soldiers, carpenters and what not, infact Jesus, was born to a carpenter and He said He was blessed, so who are we, mere mortals to question God's intentions for us, to consider what gift is worth callling a blessing or not?
You are sick, doctor offers you drugs that can cure you, instead of having faith that God will imbue those pills with His healing grace to make you better, your pastor says dont take your meds, God will heal you through faith and prayer, you die and they say you did not have enough faith or that it was just your time.
People let us stop treating God like a grocery store to say just because I have this much faith and did this my reward should be equivalent to this in blessings, yes all you do will be rewarded, but only in what He, your Father seems as it being in you best interests. Sorry for such a long post, but if you can listen to a Lil Wayne album and its crappy then you can probably spare a few minutes for advice, once again this is not an attack on faithful Christians.
