You can go prison for buying a ‘cheap’ phone.
Yes, prison.
So many people are in prison because of receiving stolen property innocently.
Many people don’t know this.
Before you buy that phone, laptop, or property, open your eyes very well:
1. If the price is too cheap, be careful. Crime likes discount.
2. If the seller is rushing you, something is wrong.
3. If there is no receipt, no carton, no proof of ownership, you are buying trouble.
4. If the story is not clear (“my brother gave me”, “I just want to sell it quickly”), run.
5. If the phone’s IMEI has been tampered with, that is a red flag.
6. If it is a laptop or device and the original owner’s details are still inside, don’t touch it.
Please Listen carefully,
“I did not know” is not a defence when the signs are obvious.
In law, it is called receiving stolen property and it can land you in serious trouble.
Don’t use your hard-earned money to buy police case.
Be wise. Ask questions.
Demand proof.
Walk away if anything smells funny.
