GOV’T URGED TO ADOPT SECURITY FEATURES AMID NEW ONLINE PASSPORT APPLICATION
YTech (X) Cybersecurity Principal Consultant, White Daka, has urged government to implement rigorous security features on the new online passport application and payment system.
Recently, government rolled out a new online passport application and payment system, marking a major step in the digitalization of public services.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Daka commended government for its launch stating that this digital transformation marks a significant leap towards efficient, transparent and accessible public administration.
“It reflects a commitment to modern governance and positions Zambia as an emerging leader in secure digital public services,” said Mr. Daka.
Mr. Daka noted that safeguarding the system against fraud and cyber threats is paramount to maintaining public trust and national security as the nation embraces this advancement.
He also recommended various security features to ensure the platform’s integrity, security and long-term success such as verifying identities rigorously and validating documents automatically.
Mr. Daka further urged government to adopt a strict Identity and Access Management (IAM) framework ensuring only authorized personnel handle sensitive data and encouraged education and engagement of the public, highlighting that these security controls are fundamental to sustainable digital public services.
