Do You Know Your Data Limit?

Check if you have enough data to cover your usage. Speak to your provider for more advice on the package which best suits your needs

If you are new to smartphones, remember that they are built to seek out internet connections automatically and can use data even if data is not included within your allowance

If you want to regularly use data, using local Wi-Fi instead of your phone’s mobile internet connection can save you using data from your allowance.

Some smartphone settings and apps can seek out Wi-Fi networks and prompt you to connect to them so that you do not have to do this manually

If you are going to use your phone’s internet connection rather than Wi-Fi, remember that activities such as watching videos, downloading music or opening large attachments from email, use lots of data.

There are also apps that can compress data – a bit like the way you can compress documents into zip files on a computer – allowing you to make your allowance go further

Some companies send text alerts telling you when you have reached your allowance for data usage – these can help you to avoid out-of- data allowance charges.

It is worth checking if your service provider offers these alerts.

Tips on how to manage your data: The cause of airtime being deducted while accessing internet with an active Blackberry subscription:
• Additional charges will occur, when streaming live data either audio or video as they cannot be accessed on the blackberry.net APN.
• If the APN address on the device is INTERNET, you will be charged from the main account. Ensure that the APN is ALWAYS Blackberry.net to avoid additional charges.
