We keep hearing about this “tech revolution” in Zambia, but if I had a kwacha for every time we’ve been promised a breakthrough, I’d be swimming in Wi-Fi routers. Look, the reality is, we have all the ambition in the world but are missing a few essentials—like, you know, **reliable internet and power**! It’s pretty hard to build the next Google when half your day is spent waiting for the power to come back.
And let’s talk innovation. Everyone seems obsessed with creating the next big app. But here's a reality check: **an app that tracks how much nshima you’ve eaten this week? Not exactly groundbreaking tech**. Maybe, just maybe, we should focus on tech solutions that actually improve people’s lives—affordable mobile data, secure online payment systems, and education tools for rural areas, anyone?
**Tech Education in Zambia: More Dreams, Fewer Tools**
Don’t get me wrong, I love the enthusiasm of our young tech minds. But let’s face it, expecting kids to learn advanced coding on outdated computers in classrooms that haven’t seen a software update since Windows XP? That’s like sending a mechanic to fix a car with a spoon. We need better tools, better access, and real investment in tech education. Without that, we’re just spinning our wheels.
So, to all the tech dreamers out there: **less focus on buzzwords like “disruptive innovation” and more focus on practical solutions.** And to the powers that be, **please, for the love of all things tech, invest in infrastructure**—you can’t innovate with a 3G connection and a dying battery!
